We knew that Arturo was going to be extraordinary as soon as his fleece was dry. His namesake, Ken's father (Arthur), would have been 100 years old the day Arturo was born. We also knew that dad, our own Snowmass RRoyal Stars was a "dilution" white, with fleece density in the top 1% of alpacas biopsied by Ian Watt, as was his mom RR Rose Encantada and waited with confident expectations until the results came in. Skin biopsy report: (Ian Watt) Density: 76.7/mm2 S/P ratio: 14.2:1 In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 21.7 SD 2.9 In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 18.5 SD 2.4 Comments: " An elite alpaca in all fleece respects! There is nothing to add to what the numbers clearly say..." Want fineness...look at his histograms. His histogram at 36 months--> AFD 17.5/ SD 3.6/ CV 20.8/ CF 100% and curve 55.0 Dg/mm is one that would make any cria proud! He is a stunning male and of all the ribbons and banners that he has racked up, the one that we're most proud of is "Best Hand" at MAPACA, under Jude Anderson...that says it all! PLUS...HE MAKES SOLID GREY... Arturo has established his genetics indelibly in our herd and made many Champions and banners. He can do the same for yours...

Theodora is a stunning female with superdense chocolate brown fleece that you can't take your hands out of. She is very "typey" with excellent coverage, on a sturdy, but compact, well-proportioned frame. She is out of one of our Guns n Roses daughters, Rose Neytiri, who is Avatar lines on mom's side. Dad is our own Snowmass Midnight Sun who has left his mark across our program with both his excellence in color fiber and strong conformation. Though she made Frida Kahlo, a brown Champion with Arturo, we chose Touchstone for 2019. From our experience with the pedigrees, top and bottom, and although we would be happy with a healthy brown, we think that there is an excellent chance for black or roan. We have wondered if Teodora is a cryptic roan. She has mixed black and brown fibers and at least is a very likey candidate as a black/ brown heterozygote and her pedigree supports that. Her color chromosomes are being analyzed...fingers crossed.
