RR LEGATO GRIGIO - SOLD TO CASCADE ROSE ALPACAS

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 31620031DOB: 9/12/201113 yrs
Currently breeding in WA state... Legato Grigio is the assimilation of the 2 most important lines that we wanted to bring to our grey breeding program. He comes by his elite fleece not unexpectedly. Dad is RR Gun's A'Blazin' who has now shown by both histograms, and follicle skin testing that he is consistantly producing fineness, density and uniformity and was a 15 time banner winner. Mom, Snowmass Golden Dreams, has been one of our best producers. We have amassed countless banners from her offspring, among whom is our pre=potent herdsire Snowmass Midnight Sun. LG has demonstrated his pepotency repeatedly in his production. AS we had hoped, he is able to transmit solid grey as a dominant, in many shades. His progeny, as tested by histograms and biopsies (to date) attest to his prepotency...take a minute to check the stats on his offspring. There is but one to date that is not still in our herd...we have retained them all. His non grey production has championed in solid colors, fawn and black in particular. His pattern appears to be a spotting, not tuxedo , pattern and we have used him on solid colors with excellent success. We have not bred him to tuxedo patterns. He has not produced any blue eyed whites. The numbers don"t lie: Histograms: 2012 16.0/ 3.9/ 23/ CF 100%/ length 90mm 2013 18.3/ 4.1/ 23/ CF99%/ length 105mm 2014 17.3/ 3.85/ 22.24/ CF 100 length 90.0 2015: 19.3/ 4.3/ 22.3/ CF 97.3 length 90mm Biopsy (Alpaca Consulting/ Ian Watt): Density 64.6/mm2 S/P ratio 11.8:1 In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 25.9 SD 2.8 In-skin mean secondary fibre diameter: 20.6 SD 2.8 Comments: Excellent density well supported by an above average S:P ratio and very uniform fiber populations, among the best recorded for this color to date. There is simply no way that we would be offering Legato Grigio, if we didn't have sons Brubeck, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie now standing on our stud row...

RR ROSE CARMEN -SOLD - MAKER OF CHAMPIONS!

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Brown
AOA# 31331982DOB: 7/26/200816 yrs
Carmen is a stunning rich brown, compact, beautifully proportioned GnR daughter who boasts very uniform, bright, well defined, lengthy fiber. The judges sure liked her and they sure love her daughters too who have taken championships in the ring. She has been one of the Guns n Roses daughters that we have come to cherish in our program as a foundation female with outstanding production and excellent color genetics including production of a black herdsire. Skin biopsy through Ian Watt: Density: 50.3/mm2 S/P: 10.3:1 In-skin primary fiber diameter: 19.7 micron, SD 2.7 In-skin secondary fiber diameter: 14.1 micron, SD 2.2 Comments: "Very good density well supported by an excellent fiber population differential with excellent SDs and a very good S:P ratio make this a breeding female of significant potential." We were thrilled with the 2014 offering of RR Billie Holiday out of Legato Grigio which we repeated for 2015 and look at the bottom picture to see what we got!!! needless to say, we are going for a three-fer... Carmen is being sold with her STUNNING female cria RR Hera if sold before weaning! An amazing opportunity!!!

Description

NO RISK HERDSIRE: Pay $500 and should you decide to use him as a herdsire down the road, you will pay $1000 for his ARI papers prior to breeding Carmen and Legato Grigio did it again. Count Basie is full brother to RR Duke Ellington. Count Basie is sporting a dark silver grey fleece that is dense, uniform in it's bold fleece style, extremely bright and outrageously long. His 2018 shear was a ridiculous 130mm long in staple! He is patterned only on his face with complete color consistency across his blanket. His sire has demonstrated what Kylie Munyard agree's is a dominant roan pattern, based on pedigree analysis. We expect him to produce grey out of color with the same consistency that his sire did. He is what is referred to as a "blue roan" and in a darker almost charcoal shade and he has an excellent hand. He is one a large number of roans that we have breeding for in our herd with a dominant pattern of inheritance through three generations. The genomics are are continuing to be evaluated in the grey color genetics study being currently done by Kylie Munyard PhD and Samantha Brooks PhD. The full genomic sequence is being done on the Count and 17 of his relatives...and more to come. None of the roans have anything other than complete color uniformity in the blanket. We believe that genomic markers will result in the breeder using him to have the earliest use of genomics to develop a breeding strategy and will mirror the experience of roan horse breeders. This is also a line that has been defined by analytics, not just histograms, but skin biopsy and follicle testing. He is ideally suited to a breeder with solid color females looking to take their genetics to grey. We have had excellent results breeding the Roan dominant allele to brown and fawn. As for breeding to roan...RnRn homozygotes are not lethal in horses, and the dominant RnRn ought to transmit the roan gene to ALL it's offspring. Breeding to another roan should result not only in 100% roan, but 50% double dominant RnRn.
