Caledonia has produced three fine fibered males for us...which would not be something to write home about except that one of those males is our multiple banner and blue ribbon winner Highland Monarch, and the other two males had AFD's in the 17 range out of two different males. We believe that is an indication of Cali's quality as a production female. This year she is bred to Andean Gold...THE Andean Gold who won the AFCNA Fleece award as a Mature male and added another banner when most males have long ago ceased to be impressive. Andean Gold is out of Santana, our first, original herdsire who began our breeding program, so this was a sentimental breeding decision for us in addition to the outstanding qualities Andean Gold has added to his offspring. Combined with Cali's award winning fleece, outstanding genetics, and production record, she is in the upper tier of our production females. Her most recent cria, Highland Talisker, is another fine fibered light fawn out of Charles P. Atlas and is included in Cali's purchase price. Again, this is Cali's first time on the sales list as we downsize our herd. If you are looking for an easy keeper, good producer, and excellent Mom, Cali is one to seriously consider.

Description

The Monarch...a special name for a very special male! With banner winning dam and sire, it's no surprise that Monarch inherited the fiber and conformation that led him to be undefeated in his first year in the show ring and accolades from five different judges. Winning the Reserve Color banner at MAPACA, one of the largest fleece shows in the country was an affirmation of the high regard we have for everything about Monarch. His personality, his conformation, his genetics, his fiber...all speak of quality and the characteristics a breeder wants in a male. His sire is the incomparable Lancaster's Highland Chieftain...one of the most awarded males on the United States east coast and producer of dense, crimpy, fine fleeced cria. We believe Monarch is one of his best, and offer him for breeding with the confidence he will be a huge asset to a farm looking to add all of his outstanding qualities to their breeding program. His first cria will be in the show ring in 2017.
