Congratulations and thank you to Sunny Alpacas for their purchase of Snowmass Andean Midnight! SNOWMASS ANDEAN MIDNIGHT: "FINENESS in BLACK" Elite Ultra-Fine Blacks are hard to find! However, like many of our Snowmass studs, Andean Midnight has retained his Fineness, Brightness, and Handle with age! (Amanda VandenBosch valued him at $12K in 2019). Andean Midnight is a beautiful, compact True Black "Silky Soft" stud with an outstanding Royal Pedigree for fineness and should retain his fineness for years to come. Those who need to add proven genetics of fineness, brightness and handle will appreciate the Royal Blacks from Snowmass! He is one of their best! His fiber is incredibly soft and shiny with a silky look and feel. It has a uniform low amplitude high frequency style of crimp. You have to see it to believe it. His grandsire is none other than Andean Bronze, the sire of Royal Bronze – from Snowmass’ vicuna type alpacas who retain fineness under 20 microns after reaching maturity. CONFORMATION: GOOD BONE WITH EXCELLENT COVERAGE HANDSOME CORRECT WEDGED HEADPIECE DENSE TOPKNOT CORRECT BITE SUPERIOR ROYAL “Vicuna” Lineage: Snowmass Andean Night is a brother to Snowmass Royal Bronze (throws true blacks) and Snowmass Royal Flush (throws silver grays like Silver Signature). Snowmass Andean Bronze (Peruvian Andean Gold x Peruvian Croixen) is an incredible example of longevity in fineness. Fineness will be one of the most important ingredients in breeding elite blacks! ANDEAN MIDNIGHT IS 1/2 BROTHER TO SNOWMASS ROYAL BRONZE (VICUNA TYPE) SIRE: SNOWMASS ANDEAN NIGHT (Superb Brightness & Character Throughout the Fleece) DAM: SNOWMASS FINENESS MATTERS (The name says it all...fineness in Black does matter). THE REST OF THIS AMAZING ROYAL LINEAGE INCLUDES: Snowmass Andean Bronze, 4 Peruvian Andean Gold, 5 Peruvian Tapara, PPeruvian Croixen. 5 Peruvian Red Hot (1/2 brother to Snowmass Midnight Magic), 5 Peruvian Ajoyani, Snowmass Golden Paradise, Snowmass Legacy Gold, Snowmass Peruvian Paradise, and Accoyo Legacy! Dam: Astral-Light's Athena

True black genetics w/a touch of grey!

Astral-Light's Athena

HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 31551090DOB: 5/13/200717 yrs
Athena is as jet black as they come, with a lightning bolt across her muzzle. She also has a touch of grey in her pedigree, which is an excellent combination for a grey breeding program. Athena is an average sized girl on a square frame. She has great coverage (picture is only 4 months growth) and if you like ear feathers, this girl is for you! Athena is a proven dam and has passed on her true black color to both of her female offspring.

Service Sire: NeverSummer's American Iron

Multi-Champion .38 Special Son!

NeverSummer's American Iron

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Rose Grey
AOA# 31890007DOB: 6/29/201014 yrs
American Iron is the type of male to compliment ANY quality grey breeding program. Such a stunning male - super heavy bone, outstanding presence, macho head ("Best Head" award winner at IAO 2011!) and a calm disposition. Get into his silky, fine, bright, LONG fiber and it melts away at the touch. It's one of those fleeces that just gets better with age. He's had a very successful career in the show ring including a sweep at IAO 2012 winning both the Grey Male Commercial Halter Championship and Reserve Grey Male Cottage Fleece Championship - a superior fleece in both divisions!!! The following year he won the Spinners Dream IAO 2013 - the top award in the Cottage Fleece division! Yes, Iron has the requisite successful run in the show ring, but more importantly this male has the power in his pedigree that tips the scales in his favor for reproducing his awesome phenotype, desirable conformation and fleece characteristics. Iron is sired by the incomparable grey herdsire, Aussie .38 Special. As he ages, .38 Special just keeps getting better. He is a two-time Judges' Choice winner, including Judges' Choice Fleece at the 2010 AOBA Nationals (4th fleece!). Iron's pedigree is packed: Hemingway, Victor, Royal Fawn, 5Peruvian Royal Incan Legend, Lanark's Silver Charm, Peruvian Aladdin...and let's not forget Hannaruh. Experienced breeders know the value in stacking a pedigree with proven and repeatable genetics, and American Iron brings that to the breeding pen. Iron's 3 year histogram shows a 22.3/ 4.4/ 19.6 with a spin fineness of 21.7. His 2015 Histogram as a five year old breeding male shows an AFD 24.7 SD 4.5 CV 18.1 CV 89.7 Curve 36.4! Iron's cria are now on the ground, and he is indeed passing along his superb conformation with superior fleece, long staple, silky fineness.

Description

Lyra is a jet black daughter of get of sire recipient, Snowmass Andean Midnight! She is quite a nice girl with great coverage, fine fleece and good character, and a light spot on her nose. Lyra was bred in May 2017 to our multi-champion grey stud, Neversummer's American Iron, and on May 3, 2018, Lyra had a beautiful female cria with such bright, soft fleece! This cria brings together some amazing genetics and fiber characteristics and we really look forward to her growing up!
