PATAGONIA'S ERNESTO: Patagonia’s Ernesto is a magnificent light brown compact herdsire that improves every dam to her fullest potential. Before I purchased Ernesto, I bred numerous females to this dynamic male just to see what he could do. I discovered that I could take an average dam, breed her to Ernesto, and voila, he would produce a stunning offspring. This feat was proven when we had hundreds of the females assessed with their juvenile crias. Time and time again, the cria scored better than the dam so I knew I had something special going on with this male and one way to obtain improvement in the production of our breeding program. In many ways, Patagonia’s Ernesto has surpassed his one of a kind sire, Patagonia’s Lennox, and what Lennox has been able to achieve in his life-time. Ernesto’s dam, R&RR Irishea, is a light fawn from Ruth and Rodney Elvestad’s Canadian breeding program whose goal was to have lasting fine fleece, yet have the fleece to be the ultimate in density as well. Ruth operates Olds College in Canada working with fiber. Irishea is out of one of my very favorite males, CAVA Guivar Zorro, a true black import. He has many good breeding years left and would love to have the opportunity to prove it! Ernesto’s Show Record shows for itself: JUDGE'S CHOICE, 7x CHAMPION & 5x GET OF SIRE RIBBONS Ernesto's first crias hit the show ring in 2012 and continue to perform! Patagonia's Vinson Massif

Vinson Massif is a little known diamond! He was Ernesto's rival in the show ring when Karen and Hugo were showing in 2010 & 2011. Ernesto and Vinson went back and forth in the show ring, each earning Color Champion when the other was reserve or 1st. Vinson's half share was purchased by a Colorado breeder in 2010, and he has been in CO for much of the time since 2010. We have had the privilege to purchase Vinson in full ownership, and is now a standing Stud on our Camano Island Ranch. We bred to Vinson 2014 season, and we were struck by his upright stature, solid bone, typey head, and his fine fleece! Check out Vinson's histograms below! He has very dark points and dark gums, so he will most favor dark colors, excellent combination with his fineness. Vinson Massif's biopsy results: 60.5 follicles SQ MM, S/P ratio of 12.7:1 and a micron variation between primary and secondary fibers of 8.1 These results are from his biopsy conducted at three and half years of age. Histogram: 2009 afd=16.7m, sd=3.6m, cv=21.8%, >30=0.6% 2010 18.5, 3.4, 18.6, 0.7 2011 22.0, 4.3, 19.5, 3.9 Lennox is Vinson's Sire, a well know Patagonia Champion and his Dam Patagonia's Rouge has fantastic coverage, typey female with a great head. He has been bred to white, fawn, brown, black and grey. He has consistently produced brown, black and gray. This year he has produced primarily True Black, and Dark Silver Gray. 2015 cria count is 6 females, 2 males. Vinson has multiple offspring on the ground including Color Champion- Back to Black TB son! PRODUCING CHAMPIONS!!!

Description

Star Dust is very well grown female who is exhibiting excellent character in her fiber with uniformity, style, amplitude and micron throughout. She has a striking head passed from her sire Ernesto and long staple length. We appreciate her tiny bundles and uniform dark brown color. She has a gentle personality and is perfectly conformed. Her sire is Patagonia's Ernesto, a 7X Champion and Judges Choice Winner! He exhibits both fineness and density. He has Champion offspring, well proven to pass on his excellent qualities. Star Dust's Dam is Patagonia's Teana, a 4X Champion female, exhibiting fabulous dense, crimpy and bright fleece. Peter Kennedy awarded her 4th place at Futurity 2016. He remarked that Star Dust exhibited the best style, and character within her fiber of the group, with fineness, and excellent amplitude. Peter also remarked that upon opening her fleece he was impressed with the tiny bundles of fiber with remarkable style and character. Her comments at Alpacapalooza: exhibiting density, character and long beautiful staple length. Helen Testa at CABA Classic remarked: very dense, packing on a lot of fleece on her frame, very fine, long bright staple, organization prominent throughout everywhere she opened her up! Star dust was a contender for reserve champion, and Helen said she was highly competitive for the reserve. Really excited to put her into the show string for 2018.
