HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

Final Update: Frannie delivered her latest cria, a female classic silver grey girl out of 8X champion Irish Meadows Peruvian Showtime, on May 7th, 2019. Frannie is now sold; look for her and her cria at Circus City Alpacas in Peru, Indiana. Hi all! Frannie is a gem with a combination of rare bloodlines and quality. She has been with us since she was a wee cria. The fleece she produces is some of the best grey fleece we have ever had at our farm! She is certainly worth the investment! HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Frannie was always the best grey dam on our farm. She has a nearly spotless blanket with AWESOME density. Though compact, she has excellent conformation and coverage. She has always been a good mom with lots of milk. She is very protective of her babies. Every one of her crias has been stunning. She is an exceptional grey producer! Frannie deserves a spot on a farm’s foundation herd. She would be a great addition to any farm. Françoise was born just after noon on May 31st, and she hit the ground at an amazing 20.3 lbs! She is a solidly built little girl with a broad chest and excellent squareness to her frame. Her color is equally astounding--the most gorgeous shade of light silver, with only a few barely detectable small spots in her blanket. Her fleece density rivals any animal we have had born on the farm, and she has amazing medium frequency crimp and bundling. Frannie had some issues with an inner ear infection early on, and still has a droopy right ear and paralysis in her upper right eyelid. While these cosmetic problems did limit her show ring career, she has grown into a great breeding female and we are excited about the crias this girl will produce! Frannie gave birth to her first cria--a cute rose grey female out of the multiple get-of-sire winner Charles P. Atlas--in May 2013. Frannie followed that up with a promising true black boy out of the late Woodland Meadows Greyson in June 2014. Frannie's two most recent crias really prove her potential as a foundation female; check out the separate listings for her crias Maya Zatz and Fausto de Elhuyar! As with her own mother and grandmother, she has turned out to be a great mom, producing lots of milk for her cria. Frannie is named after Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the French biologist and current director of the Unité de Régulation des Infections Rétrovirales at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. She was the winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, which she shared with her mentor Luc Montagnier. The two virologists are credited with discovering the retroviral human immunodeficiency virus. Frannie is confirmed bred to 8X halter champion Irish Meadows Peruvian Showtime for an May 2019 cria.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Maya may just be the cutest alpaca ever! She has an awesome "typey" head. Check out her face photos! On top of that, her fleece and conformation are both outstanding. She is ELITE and one of the best females ever born on our farm. Her fleece is soft, crispy, and has EXTREME density. She is compact, but that won’t hold her back! She believes she hung the moon and can be bossy. She always has the potential to be in charge of her stall mates. Maya is very aware of her surroundings and is a joy to watch in the pasture. She is a sure candidate for a farm’s foundation herd. Maya was our seventh cria of 2015, and sixth little girl that year! Maya is a promising grey girl out of our champion-producing Toledo and our foundation female Frannie. We are looking forward to watching this girl grow--she is definitely show-worthy. At the 2016 AOA National Show, Maya received numerous comments about her cute head with a short and fuzzy nose and fuzzy ears! Maya is named for Dr. Mayana Zatz, a geneticist who is currently the director of the Human Genome Research Center and Institute of Stem cells in Genetic Disorders at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. A member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, she is the president of the Brazilian Muscular Dystrophy Association. Her research in human and medical genetics focuses mainly on neuromuscular disorders, including stem-cell therapies. Maya'a first show was the 2016 AOA National Show in Fort Wayne, where she earned a ribbon in a very competitive class of eight silver grey juvenile females.
