We have deemed Lucius “”the Magician due to his unique genetics. He is a dark fawn with vicuna shading out of two true blacks. There is more to the illusion when you look closer—the truth is that genetically, Lucius is a black alpaca, but under the guise of a fawn! Lucius has had show success, largely due to his genetics. His sire, Crescent Moon’s Sixtus, is the only full Peruvian black male to be sired by the renowned 4Peruvian Legacy. Sixtus is an elite herdsire, and we are pleased to have his genetics on our farm. Lucius has a great phenotype as well! In addition to his unique vicuna color pattern, he has great fleece. Most noticeable is the fineness and softness of his fleece. It is also quite bright, has nice handle, and features an uncommon crimp style. Lucius has had a respectable show record. In 2012 he ribboned as the youngest in two different level 5 shows—and was the only fawn out of two blacks in each show! He followed that up with a second to the reserve color champion at the 2013 Virginia Classic. Lucius how now settled his first females. We look forward to the cria he has due this year, and will continue to breed him to black and grey. Put Lucius to work for your herd!

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Frostty is an independent alpaca with incredibly rare bloodlines. She is the product of two rare grey imports. This makes her lineage quite unusual, and on top of that, she is silver grey! She is a relatively large alpaca and her fleece is very dense. She always throws stunning fleece on her crias. It has been a joy to see what she produces for us every year! She is a great mother and an easy breeder. Though she is a bit older, she still has the ability and time to produce many more awesome crias! Frostty is currently nursing a handsome black male cria. He is not included in her sales price. Frostty is one of the key acquisitions to the Whispering Willows foundation herd that we have added in the last couple of years. She is a stunning grey girl, standing tall and stately in the pasture. Frostty is the sister of our champion herdsire SA Peruvian Noche Negro, and is also the sister of the well known grey herdsire Shaquille. All three are out of the outstanding 5Peruvian Quicksilver 9057. Frostty's lineage also includes the grey imports CPeruvian Stirling 105 IMPF98 and CPeruvian Silver Star 1233 IMPF98.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Celeste will make an exceptional fleece animal. She is a compact girl with fleece that is absolutely outstanding! It has great character, and is very crimpy with strong bundling and softness. The reason we are selling her as a pet is because of her small conformation, bite, and leg coverage, which is lacking. She may need a little extra attention, as she is submissive to other alpacas and may need additional food supplementation. That said, she is very sweet and patient with people. Her size and friendliness make her the perfect pet! Celeste was our ninth new cria of 2015, and our seventh girl that year! Wow! From the day this girl was born she has been eye-catching. Celeste is a lovely light rose color with classic tuxedo grey markings. She has good size and conformation, and even at this young age her fleece is showing density. This girl just screams "Look at Me!" Celeste is the first cria out of Peruvian Lucius. Celeste's mother is our foundation female Silver Frostt, who consistently throws great crias for us. Celeste's lineage includes many well known names including the imports 5Peruvian Quicksilver, 4Peruvian Legacy, PPPeruvian Kenamori Gold, and PPPeruvian Quadrille. Celeste is named for Celeste McCollough Howard who is an American psychologist. Dr. McCollough conducts research in human visual perception. She is best known for her 1965 discovery of the first contingent aftereffect, known soon after as the McCollough effect. The McCollough effect is a phenomenon of human visual perception in which colorless gratings appear colored contingent on the orientation of the gratings. It is an aftereffect requiring a period of induction to produce it.
