Aussie Colorado Dillinger

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Fawn
AOA# 823163DOB: 9/12/200024 yrs
A Peruvian Presidio son and Grandson of Accoyo Caligula, this guy has it all! An outstanding show ring record of his own ( 2X Color Champion with 10 Blue Ribbons) and now his cria all over the U.S are doing the same. Dillinger's dam is Medium Rose Grey Hannahruh, who has consistently produced award winning cria - including the well known Painted Sky Apres Vous and champion Grey, Aussie Rockford. His sire, Full Peruvian Presidio, perhaps the finest producing son of Accoyo Caligula, now has 7 "Get of Sire" wins and was 2nd in "Get of Sire" at the 2004 National Show, in what Judge Mike Safely called the "best Get of Sire class" he'd ever judged. But as they say, the proof is in the progeny. Dillinger's reputation is based on his proven ability to add density, crimp, compaction and darkness to his offspring. Take a look at just a few of Dillinger's award winning cria. There is Aussie Lady Derringer, who holds 6 First Place Ribbons as well as a Color & Reserve Color Championship. There is Aussie Dillinger's Ruger with 7-1st Place Ribbons & 4 Color Championships to date. And if you like Grey, there is NeverSummer's Billabong with multiple 1st Place finishes and a Reserve Color championship. And Dillinger is still producing winners...3 of his progeny were shown at the 2009 KY Classic in 3 Different Color classes. All 3 ribboned coming in 1st in Dark Silver Grey, 2nd in Medium Fawn splitting a pair of Patagonia Lennox girls, and a 3rd place in the Beige Class. Not only this....many of his sons are now working herdsires at farms. We are very excited about our recent acquistion of "The Man", Aussie Colorado Dillinger. We would like to thank John & JoAnn Datillo of Serene n'Green Alpacas and Steve & Cheryl Russell of Misty Morning Alpacas for making this Exceptional Herdsire available. He will be arriving at our farm in mid-April and will be ready to go to work. Take advantage of our breeding special!

Serious harlequin appaloosa.

Mr. Butterscotch

Mr. Butterscotch (AKA Scottie, or “Mister Scot” for the serious Star Trek fan) was one of those alpacas whose photo I had seen and gone, “WOW.” Well, sometimes the stars align, and now, months later, we are proud to have Scottie join our stud row. Scottie is a very light silver harlequin appaloosa. His sire was a dark harlequin son of the renowned DPA Quetzal, son of Timoteo. His dam, My Peruvian Zuleika, was a powerful producer for Magical Farms. She is also the dam of multiple-champion grey Zoolander, as well as several harlequin daughters who were all exceptional. With a name like Mr. Butterscotch, and covered in spots, one might expect Scotty to be a bit of a goof – but this is one serious macho. Scottie is a very dominant male, though he is outgoing towards humans and very good on a halter. He gets along very well with the other large, macho studs that he lives with. Scottie's dominant nature isn't surprising, as he has the largest testicles that I have ever seen on an alpaca. This is a very desirable trait, as it has been found to positively correlate with high offspring fertility in other livestock. Coming up on his tenth birthday, Scottie still looks stunning. He is ideally conformed, with a square build and good bone. He is extremely well-muscled and has a wide chest and excellent spring of rib. His type is excellent, with a handsome head, coverage to his toes and a topknot that keeps on growing. Scottie did extremely well in the showring, taking blue ribbons at highly competitive shows. More importantly, he has retained many of those competitive fiber traits even on his tenth fleece. Scottie's current fleece is still endowed with a distinct, consistent crimp that is medium to high in frequency. His brightness is terrific for his age, and his fleece is still quite uniform with a soft handle. He is very dense, and working on a great staple length for his age. Before arriving at Howling Hill, Scottie had one harlequin, Tia, to his credit. She has solid bone, excellent coverage, beautiful type, and consistent crimp. His first cria here was an appaloosa ... His second, a harlequin ... His third, a minimally-spotted appy. Scottie can throw harlequin, alright. As Scottie is getting up in age, I have decided to close his studbook. Look for his offspring on our farm, as well as females bred to him.

Description

Ginger was a really awesome surprise, in more ways than one. I bought this female sight-unseen and with her registration pending. I knew that she had a really great head and some white markings on her face. I also knew that she had Aussie Colorado Dillinger -- renowned son of Peruvian Presidio and impact dam Hannahruh, as well as known harlequin appaloosa carrier -- in her lineage, but I thought she was his granddaughter on her dam's side, and that her sire was a different animal entirely (one that I hadn't heard of). Imagine my surprise -- and enthusiasm -- to discover that not only is Ginger an own daughter of Dillinger, but her dam line is extremely cool as well. Her great-grandsire is Peruvian Vengador, an Accoyo bastion of fineness whose name appears (often multiple times) in the pedigrees of many of today's most prepotent studs. Her great-granddam, Peruvian Julieta, was owned by the renowned High Plains Alpacas of Canada, and was a foundation dam in their program. The other really cool surprise about Ginger was the discovery that she has SPOTS. They aren't screamingly obvious spots, but she definitely has them. Her base color is medium fawn, while dark fawn spots dot her blanket. The white of her face is also spotted. Is this due to the action of the harlequin appaloosa gene? I don't know for sure. Her granddam appears to have been a pinto, so it could be that these two pattern genes are playing together in an interesting fashion. One thing's for sure, it can't hurt her chances for throwing appaloosa! Aside from all of the above, Ginger is a lovely female. She is square in her proportions, and her head is simply ideal. She has good bone and pretty good coverage. Her fleece is long-stapled, with a soft hand and good uniformity. She is a VERY easy keeper. What do you know? ... Ginger had an appaloosa cria, sired by Mr. Butterscotch, and darned if he isn't pretty danged nice ...
