This is Allison. Allison is awesome.
This is a girl with no compromises. Her fleece is gorgeous. The blanket from her seventh shearing is superior to that of most alpacas' first and second (see histogram and photos). Her conformation is terrific -- straight, balanced, square. Her build and type are absolutely ideal: thick, compact, and beautiful.
My biggest complaint about this girl is that she does not like to put her ears forward for pictures! Allison is a tad aloof, at that, but she isn't mean about it. She isn't crazy, just shy.
Allison comes by her excellence honestly. Her sire, Lightfoot's Sprite, is a grandson of Bueno and traces back to Felix and Camilio. Allison's real power, though, comes from her dam, Kilblaan Farm Satine. Satine's sire, NZ Maori Magic, has quietly made his mark as a dam sire, including the champion dam of renowned stud NM Beethoven. Satine's dam, Camana's Livin It Up, is still possessed of a soft fleece at age 20+ (yes, I have felt it). Satine herself is the dam of futurity reserve champion HHF Segundo's Sonatina, whose son, Radar, is on our stud row. Her offspring are consistently excellent.
Icing on the cake for this girl is her coloring. Allison's blanket is classed as the common medium fawn, but her beautiful markings, as well as her bloodlines, indicate a strong ability to produce grey and black when bred to these colors. ... Yes indeed, two years later, two grey cria!
So, in a nutshell: awesome.
Allison's first cria has arrived, and he is exactly what we were hoping for! Oh my word. Medium silver grey and built like his mom. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Allison does it again! Another amazing grey boy.
Allison is now 3 for 3 making Tuxedo -- this time a GIRL. She may be my best Tuxedo yet. I am keeping her and I plan to repeat that breeding (too good not to).
