The following is just for information on the stud that put us on the map. He passed away in 2016 from an injury. We call Adonis Donnie and we couldn't be happier with the first male that was born to us. He has a very, very calm personality which he normally puts out on his offspring. The bone on this guy is staggering. I've actually never seen another alpaca with as large a bone. Recently, Jeff was going to meet one of Donnie's offspring who was in a pen with several others. Jeff just looked at the feet to correctly guess which one was his! Incidently, that animal won 2 blues in 3 shows as a juvey. The first for that farm and his maternal siblings. Donnie improves the fleece remarkably. Even though he is dark, he puts out finer fleece on whites that have higher micron siblings from both white parents. Here are some facts for helping you make your breeding/purchase decision: 28 registered cria as of 4/15/13 20 of those have shown (some are still too young, at farms that don't show, etc..) Of the 20 that showed they brought home at least 45 ribbons that were either CC/RCC (4), Blue(18), Red(23) A little over 50% of his shown offspring brought home at least 1 Blue Ribbon! 75% brought home at least 1 red-amazing odds. These include offspring from dams that didn't have other ribbon winners. 68% of cria were darker than dam. 7 cria were brown or black from white dams! He has been bred to 4 grays (some more than once). 3 of 4 made grey. The other made TB (she has TB sire and he has lots of black in his pedigree) At age 9 Donnie was maintaining a micron of 26.7 which is incredible for a working black male of that age! Considering the low microns and density he puts out, he could improve your whole herd for this low price. He will also put out his friendly and calm personality onto his cria. You really can't go wrong with this guy. May 19, 2016 Our beloved Donnie passed away suddenly. It appears he either ran into a tree while all the male herd was excited about a birthing in the pasture adjacent to them or he had another male suffocate him by laying on his neck. Donnie will be terribly missed not only because he was such a sweet guy but because he has increased our enjoyment of our herd by passing on wonderfully easy going temperaments in his offspring as well as fantastic conformation and fleeces.

Greysie has a very shy and sweet personality. She loves to run with our cria. The staple length on this girl is phenominal. The crimp was a low frequency high amplitude style as a weanling but has now become my favorite type with the high frequency and high amp. Very shiny, ultra fine and her density is VERY nice! We will be keeping her around for some time to help add more grey to our herd. Adonis has made grey the majority of the time when bred to grey so he had the honor this year. She took on her first breeding! Should be a fantastic offspring! Her fleece, though never sent in for histogram, is estimated to be 16-17 micron max. Several hand spinners think so and her yarn is definitely they finest on the farm and a gorgeous color. Greysie had an Adonis offspring named Rugby. She is a great producer-birthed textbook worthy and has enough milk where he gained at least a pound a day in the beginning. He is the largest cria this year but not the oldest. He is a bay black Adonis look-a-like so very handsome. Her fleece character did not come in until her second year and then was really incredible just like her sire Revelation. Rugby's fleece seems to be super fine, has great length and shine but not a whole lot of character just yet. I'll bet he would show very well fall of 2015 though! We paired Greysie with our Royal Adonis son Wrangler who also shares a dense fine fleece but in the rose grey color. They had a very nice light fawn (like her dam)male named Wrangler's Armstrong. Check him out. Greysie was bred to Seismic and they made a gorgeously silver, dense, bundly grey male named Seismic's Seriously Silver. He will get his page shortly. Will probably repeat that breeding if I sell more girls. I already have his sire and several black and grey males so that smart thing to do is sell Greysie with male cria on the side. I just can't right now though. I really need to see this fleece! All or girls come with a breeding and we finance if needed. Greysie's boy from 2018 took 2nd at Nationals in a large class and continued to take 1st places at the other shows with one 2nd place. Greysie did not maintain her last pregnancies due to low progesterone. She is one a supplement of it now and is pregnant by Seismic again. I so want a female version of Seriously Silver a.k.a. Spot. Spot is such a calm sweet male who stepped into breeding this summer so next year we should have a few of his babies.

Description

Rugby has the strong square body style that is common to Royal Adonis offspring. His dam and sire passed incredibly fine, long staple, very nice density as well. The crimp style is bold with low frequency just like his dam had as a youngster. She became a zipper crimp high frequency girl as a yearling and that is what I expect from this boy. He is showing some of his dam's grey genetics in his face and ears and leg fiber. So cute. Look at his sheared photo closely. Rugby has a very calm personality. Easily leads and cooperates with shots etc...He would make an excellent stud for a fiber herd as he creates a large quantity of very nice fiber and has the genetics to make black and grey or color up on lights. Black and grey yarn is what I sell the most of. He gets along great with the two geldings Major, and Ruffio who are also up for auction.
