Alpaca Knolls Caleb

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 31616133DOB: 3/19/201014 yrs
This is a nice grey guy! Besides his cute factor, he is so nice to handle that he was used to film a Bud light commercial and we have taken him to public events. He was also just featured on live TV in San Diego & he hasn't kicked or spit - how's that for bragging rights lol. Not sure on permissions to use their photos so check it out yourself on Tonight in San Diego facebook or website. This guy throws grey even when bred to beige! He has had both a medium silver grey & a dark silver grey offspring. Very slim chances of producing grey out of a beige dam with no grey in her background but, were we glad we took the chance. Low and behold a stunning medium grey female that still looks like a walking doll! He has had 3 girls and one boy, a very dark silver tuxedo -just beautiful too! When we got Caleb at about 4-years-old, the shearer remarked how nice and fine he was and was pleasantly surprised at his age. He looked like he was shearing through a beautiful light cloud and we never have to worry about making the minimum weight when sending his fleece for processing. We should have sent his histogram in then, but at just over 5-years of age for a grey breeding male, his histogram is 23.7 microns with nice uniformity! We have had his fleece processed to yarn and all 7 skeins of 3-ply turned out nice and sold out. Grey being rare, tends to sell fast! His prior owner had shown him and he took a 3rd in his class and I realized it was against the top contenders like Amber Autumn and Renaissance Ridge. Also check out his sire, Silvercloud Farm's Spinx over at Alpacas of Anza Valley. He and his progeny are still winning awards. We truly like this guy a lot but since he is returned from breeding to girls in San Diego, and we won't be breeding him any more we are offering him for sale. He would love to have some more dates or just be a companion or take over his board and keep him here at Alpacas of Windy Hill. Contact us for more info.

Dina's Deborah

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 32458824DOB: 10/13/201212 yrs
Technically, this is the girl that started it all for us since she and her mom were the first alpacas we brought home from Alpacas at Windy Hill. In short, we have been enjoying the ride ever since. Hence, I initially had dubbed her "Destiny" instead of Deborah (since it seemed strange to call her my sister-in-law's name). Then I ended up naming her daughter Destiny. So we were back to the name of Deborah. Her fleece is heavily influenced by her lovely sire, Maximillian of PVA who was sired by the Elite Maximus. Her first histogram was a 22.5 AFD & 5 SD and her latest was even better, 21.2 with a 4.6 SD which indicates she has nice fineness and uniformity in a producing female. She ranks in top 25% in nearly every category in her EPD's likely due to that sire. She is a fairly friendly girl - definitely a treat taker. She is an excellent mother from the get go. One of those wonderful birthing moms literally grazing as the baby is presenting itself into the world - lol. Her crias gain weight fast without supplementing and she maintains her weight. We were so thrilled with her firstborn since Deborah has a fawn dam and quite a bit of white in her pedigree. We knew we were taking a risk breeding her to grey but lo & behold her first cria a grey girl! Destiny's Dream is absolutely gorgeous! If we had a nickel for everyone that asked about buying her, lol. Destiny's histogram at just over a year old was 19.7 with a 5.5 SD - Destiny is now producing for us, so we are offering Deborah for sale. She delivered a beautiful male exhibiting a lot of dark, bright crimpy fiber. He looked black at birth now more possibly bay black. He is almost ready to wean and is definitely large enough. Let us know if you are interested in Deborah she was recently bred to BOA's Aslan - hoping for a 2021cria!

Description

We had taken a long shot breeding a beige dam with no grey lineage to a grey guy. Destiny's Dream made her triumphant debut and all I can think of, is the saying the best dreams are the ones with your eyes wide open. She is cuter in person than in pictures and of course amazing to touch. Both parents have histograms still in low 20s with good uniformity in their adult breeding years. Her histogram came in at 19.7 with a 5.5 SD with a nice comfort factor. She grew up gracefully and is extremely eye catching. She is so photogenic I have a hard time deciding what is the better picture of her to post and my photography skills are not good. If we had a nickel for everyone who inquired about purchasing her. When you get nicer than you anticipated, you know how parting with those would be. As we suspected she made an excellent mother. Her firstborn cria was overdue but she had a textbook delivery of an absolutely gorgeous grey guy by our Reserve Champion 4-Sight's Crawford. His fleece is bright, soft and feels amazing. He took a first and a second at a show... Destiny recently delivered a nice, grey girl by Romeo's Raise the Roof. We think this is a truly special one from this pairing.
