Fawn Recessive black = Black cria!

Snowmass Midnight Sun

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Fawn
AOA# 30820425DOB: 8/23/200717 yrs
Sunny has been very effective as a herdsire in our breeding program. He has brought the fleece characteristics one would expect in a light fawn multi champion and he has consistantly put those charactistics into clors from fawn through black...producing banners in his offspring. Sure he can produce at least 505 black when bred to black (he has exceeded that), but look at the fiber analytics on our webpage, in both micron and density...especially in black. He not only has improved micron all the dams that he has been bred to but has consistantly produced densities over 50, even in balck and his offspring are all in the top percentages of all blacks sampled through Alpaca Consulting USA, Ian Watt and includes RR Belleza Nera, the densest female alpaca in ANY color that he has biopsied as of 9/17/13..a striking blue black female. Sunny's density is not too shabby: Follicle testing (Ian Watt)(6/30/09) Follicle density:63.17/mm2 S/P 11.2:1 Dp:Ds ratio: 1.51 He is a utility breeder who will fit into any color breeding program and raise across herd statistics across the color spectrum. We are trying to keep a relatively small herdire row and Sunny's genetics have been well represented in our herd, so he is also being offered for sale. He's young and has a strong libido. He settled his first female at 17 months.

HuacayaBred (Female)True Black
AOA# 31332200DOB: 7/9/200816 yrs
Incredible melange of genetics is this gorgeous non fading black young lady out of our Snowmass Silver Fox, with Bueno and Snowmass Peruvian Casanova on mom's sire's side but you have to go to mom's dam, 6 Peruvian Incan Eclipse to find the true black color. 6P Incan Eclipse was one of 3 outstandining black females picked up in the last Peruvian importation, all of whom have contributed to one of the most important black breeding programs in the world. Dad is the renowned Snowmass Royal Bronze who is notable for his incredible fineness. Mom is production dam for Snowmass Hakuna Matata, a front row black stud in the Snowmass program. No surprise that Tempest has one of the finest fleeces we've seen. We expect that she will do very well bred to our own Snowmass Midnight Sun. This pedigree proudly carries the flagships of the Snowmass black lines and we're proud to have Tempest "at port" at Renaissance Ridge. Follicle testing (Ian Watt): Density: 49.5/ mm2 Secondary: Primarty Ratio: 10.3:1 In skin primary diam: 24.2 micron In skin secondary diam: 15.8 micron

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 31620031DOB: 9/12/201113 yrs
Currently breeding in WA state... Legato Grigio is the assimilation of the 2 most important lines that we wanted to bring to our grey breeding program. He comes by his elite fleece not unexpectedly. Dad is RR Gun's A'Blazin' who has now shown by both histograms, and follicle skin testing that he is consistantly producing fineness, density and uniformity and was a 15 time banner winner. Mom, Snowmass Golden Dreams, has been one of our best producers. We have amassed countless banners from her offspring, among whom is our pre=potent herdsire Snowmass Midnight Sun. LG has demonstrated his pepotency repeatedly in his production. AS we had hoped, he is able to transmit solid grey as a dominant, in many shades. His progeny, as tested by histograms and biopsies (to date) attest to his prepotency...take a minute to check the stats on his offspring. There is but one to date that is not still in our herd...we have retained them all. His non grey production has championed in solid colors, fawn and black in particular. His pattern appears to be a spotting, not tuxedo , pattern and we have used him on solid colors with excellent success. We have not bred him to tuxedo patterns. He has not produced any blue eyed whites. The numbers don"t lie: Histograms: 2012 16.0/ 3.9/ 23/ CF 100%/ length 90mm 2013 18.3/ 4.1/ 23/ CF99%/ length 105mm 2014 17.3/ 3.85/ 22.24/ CF 100 length 90.0 2015: 19.3/ 4.3/ 22.3/ CF 97.3 length 90mm Biopsy (Alpaca Consulting/ Ian Watt): Density 64.6/mm2 S/P ratio 11.8:1 In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 25.9 SD 2.8 In-skin mean secondary fibre diameter: 20.6 SD 2.8 Comments: Excellent density well supported by an above average S:P ratio and very uniform fiber populations, among the best recorded for this color to date. There is simply no way that we would be offering Legato Grigio, if we didn't have sons Brubeck, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie now standing on our stud row...

Description

Midnight Sun has been very effective at pulling black and is our fawn/recessive black son of Snowmass Midnight Magic. We couldn't have been more pleased than with this breeding outcome. This is not your average black female! Take a mimute to click on "Sunny's" link and see what his show record, histograms and biopsy stats look like. They are superlative and put him in a very special class of his own as a light fawn. But as a black...fuggetaboutit! Sonata has killer fiber, even as a cria. As for mom: 2009: 17.0/ 3.6/ 21.4/ CF 100% 2010: 18.6/ 4.0/ 21.7/ CF 99.0% 2011: 19.7/ 4.2/ 21.3/ CF 98.6% 2012: 20.4/ 4.3/ 21.3/ CF 97.6% ...not too shabby. Oh...and check out mom's follicle testing. She is very dense with an excellent difference of just over 8 mm between her primary and secondary fiber micron. You don't expect analytics like this except in the very best blacks. Breeding Sonata to Kit Carson was a "no-brainer". BIOPSY RESULTS: Density: 55.6/mm Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 11.5:1 In-skin mean primary fiber diameter: 28.1 µ Standard Deviation: 4.4 µ Range: 21.9 µ to 39.7 µ In-skin mean secondary fiber diameter: 19.0 µ Standard Deviation: 2.8 µ Range: 13.2 µ to 30.3 µ Comments: Very good density for a black huacaya female with an excellent S:P ratio and an even secondary fiber population. The primary fiber population shows some variation though the near 40 micron reading on the histogram could be an outlier that is of less consequence when considering the overall numbers
