Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Description

Congratulations to High Peaks Alpacas of New York - our new partners in this exceptional male. Rama helped Delphi Alpacas win the prestigious Classic Cup at the 2012 National Fleece Show! Rama is your choice if you are looking for Extreme soft handle, uniformity, and lack of guard hair. Not only will his CV and >30 remain low - he also has that low scale and high "grease" feel that we love. And in a gorgeous maroon color. Rama is heir to the throne - with some mighty big shoes to fill. He has numerous Champion full brothers and sisters, as Rama is a son of Avatar and Amelia Braveheart - the combination that has been golden for Delphi alpacas beyond our hopes. Rama is the seventh cria from that combination, and Rama's name sake was the 7th Avatar (incarnation) of Vishnu. So we felt the name fitting. Fleece like silk, beautiful character and density, no guard hair. Beautiful head, perfect bite, solid conformation, wonderful presence. We treasure these traits! Specifically - fineness, uniformity, and a lack of guard hair nearly impossible to find - with the handle we specialize in here at Delphi. May be ready to breed in the spring of 2013. Congratulations to Debbie Potter of High Peaks Alpacas - Debbie is now our partner in Rama! Rama will be available for breeding in NY soon - - a great opportunity. FIRST PLACE - AOBA NATIONAL Fleece Show 2012 FIRST PLACE & COLOR CHAMPION Tennessee Waltz Fleece Show 2012 SECOND PLACE (to the CC) - ABR Fallfest Fleece Show 2012 - class of 11 (combined dark, med and light brown juveniles). Very competitive class - Included in his class below him was the Futurity Reserve Champ. Histogram 5-11-12: AFD 16.5 / SD 3.1 / CV 18.6 / 0.5% >30
