Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. FINE Snowmass Genetics bred to Avatar

~Alpenglow's Cochineal - Sold

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Rose Grey
AOA# 30617445DOB: 5/14/200618 yrs
Her sire is Snowmass Magic who had a 14.4 AFD at 1 year of age - and at 8 years of age: AFD: 18.7 / SD: 4.1% / CV: 22.2% / >30: 1.7%. Click on his name above to see his page. This is an exceptional price for a girl of this quality bred to Avatar. We need to move just a few more girls before birthing season starts - this could work out nicely for you! Cochineal gave us a beautiful DRG (or maroon with a tuxedo and grey ears) Avatar daughter in September - we love this little girl. Cochineal is now bred to Avatar, for a cria for you this fall. Cochineal: 2010: AFD 20.7, SD 4.3, CV 20.8, 3.1% >30 2011: AFD 23.5, SD 5.0, CV 21.2, 6.8% >30 2013: AFD 22.5, SD 4.7, CV 20.9, 5.5% >30 She also has excellent conformation and presence - Very typey with Great substance of bone and coverage, which she passes along to her kids. I consider Cochineal to be grey though her blanket is predominantly brown with multiple grey spots. Her neck is grey, and she has her father's general coloration. Gold Sable, her dam, has a very long staple length with lots of character. Sable won a blue ribbon in her only halter show. And she has P. Augusto, P. King, and P. Gold Rush in her pedigree. Cochineal has given birth to four cria: a stunning 7/8 Peruvian true black female, from a breeding with a light fawn full Peruvian; a beautiful beige male from a breeding with a true black, and a beautiful bay black girl from her breeding with our Zeppelin, and now a DRG little girl, Merise! She has been an excellent mom with lots of milk. She sells with full reproductive guarantees.

Description

Merise's price will remain as listed through February only. This current listed price does not include a breeding. She is ready to breed, and once bred this spring to Ike, her price will reflect the potential of the cria she will be carrying. Merry is also currently available in a great package - see our package deals. Merry has super slick, very bright soft fleece, which is just what we would expect from her parents. Her dad is the renowned Avatar, her mom from fine Snowmass genetics. Lovely little girl! Great conformation, upright presence, good bite, cute head, nice bone and coverage. Merry is a beautiful dark red rose - plus she has grey ears and a grey tuxedo neck. She has a predominantly red blanket but has spots of grey, and grey fibers easily seen throughout. With her rose grey daddy, and her dark grey mom and mom's rose grey daddy - this little one is bound to throw lots of grey herself. In a few months she will be listed as a bred female, bred to our Futurity Champion Ike.

Ike's breeding fee is $3000. Please inquire if you would like to discuss the option of purchasing her now with her upcoming breeding. Histograms on Merise at 8 months: AFD 20.46 SD 4.59 CV 22.44 CF 97.59 And if she follows in mom and dad's footprints, she won't stray too far from those numbers in the future - right now I would estimate her fiber to be the same or possibly finer - plus she has that super soft, slick bright hand. Her mom is a great mom with tons of milk - we feel Merry could have some very exciting crias.
