Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Description

We lost Ava in 2012 due to complications delivering her cria. It was a devastating loss - but we feel we should include her here in our foundation herd, as one of Avatar's very best offspring. She did her daddy proud, and gave us so much joy while she was here. Ava is Devamani's full sister. Devamani was the 2005 National grey female Color Champion. Devamani was also Reserve Champion at the 2005 Futurity, among numerous other championships. Ava was undoubtably one of the best rose grey females in the U.S. in her time, and she showed it. Thank You to Amelia and Avatar, and to the grace that has given us their wonderful kids. Ava was the spitting image of her daddy. And he gave her his fleece too. See her histogram results - Avatar's Stamp of that super CV plus super fineness. Ava won Color Champion at the Level 5 Great Western Alpaca Show. Then her fleece won second place and Reserve Champion gray female at the 2007 National Fleece Show in Louisville. At the 2008 SWRAS Ava again won Color Champion. Plus Blue at the Nationals that year. At the 2007 ABR FallFest Fleece Show, Ava again took second and Reserve Champion gray - in a combined male and female fleece show. The Champion? We were so happy to see it was NeverSummer Alpacas' 38 Special - a male we had picked as one of our top choices for breeding to our Avatar daughters. Oh it would have been grand to see a cria from those two.
