PATAGONIA'S ERNESTO: Patagonia’s Ernesto is a magnificent light brown compact herdsire that improves every dam to her fullest potential. Before I purchased Ernesto, I bred numerous females to this dynamic male just to see what he could do. I discovered that I could take an average dam, breed her to Ernesto, and voila, he would produce a stunning offspring. This feat was proven when we had hundreds of the females assessed with their juvenile crias. Time and time again, the cria scored better than the dam so I knew I had something special going on with this male and one way to obtain improvement in the production of our breeding program. In many ways, Patagonia’s Ernesto has surpassed his one of a kind sire, Patagonia’s Lennox, and what Lennox has been able to achieve in his life-time. Ernesto’s dam, R&RR Irishea, is a light fawn from Ruth and Rodney Elvestad’s Canadian breeding program whose goal was to have lasting fine fleece, yet have the fleece to be the ultimate in density as well. Ruth operates Olds College in Canada working with fiber. Irishea is out of one of my very favorite males, CAVA Guivar Zorro, a true black import. He has many good breeding years left and would love to have the opportunity to prove it! PATAGONIA'S LA MITA La Mita' sire is Patagonia's El Vasco, a beautiful black male sired by the exotic Patagonia's Neruda. El Vasco has a beautiful fleece that is fine and full of tight crimp. A skin biopsy by Dr. Evans ranked Vasco in the top 1% in density (70 follicles SQMM. SP ratio: 13 to 1). At age 10 he was maintaining a 23.6 AFD. Her dam Kala is a beautiful Nishio Granddaughter who produces show quality offspring time and time again. Offspring: On 6/28/2014, La Mita presented us with Patagonia Estates Pretty Lady, an awesome medium fawn female sired by Patagonia's Ernesto. Pretty Lady’s name says it all! She has a bone structure that is solid and exceeds the Alpaca Evaluation Handbook. She was awarded second place ribbons from both the 2015 TxOLAN Alpaca Spectacular and 2016 The Futurity shows On 8/21/2017, La Mita gave us Estates Lauralyn, a lovely LB female also sired by Patagonia's Ernesto.
