Imitation

HuacayaBred (Female)Light Fawn, Light Brown
AOA# 32157505DOB: 9/2/201113 yrs
A strong pattern history and still loaded in Peruvian / Accoyo heritage! Fine, crimpy, dense fiber.... And she's a great mom, and a proven producer of color and pattern. Imitation produced a solid color when bred to solid, in our cute as a button "Not Just a Girl" -- a MB 2015 female sired by Peruvian Black Jag. NJAG is in our foundation herd as we tease out her black genetics ;). Then, she produced her appaloosa girl, Firefly, sired by our appaloosa herdsire Jacob. She is already special with her strongly delineated dark brown, almost bay black, spots all over her white/beige backround. We predict that she will retain her clear spotting --just like her sire, Jacob -- rather than muting into a harlequin grey. That is exactly what we were breeding for! Firefly has sold to a farm interested in appies and we hear she is already bred to a harle male for her 2021 cria! The next year, Imitation produced a full sister to Firefly who is so close in appearance that you might think they were twins. The same dark spots, the same cute nose button marking and brown feet. Constellation is sold and well on her way to making her own 'mark' at her new farm! Imitation produced a beige male by our black Maelstrom, but OMG is his fiber fine, shiny, crimpy, dense, long -- you name it and he has it! We cannot help but think how this boy wold fit very nicely in a harlequinn / appy program since he has both appy and black genetics. His name is Star Dune and is available for his own herd. Imitation had a beautiful LB boy with a matching impressive headstyle to his sire, Major General. Gentry has been to a couple of shows now and managed to hold his own in tough classes, winning 2nd at both the 2023 AOA National Show and at the 2023 GWAS. We are considering adding him to our herdsire row. As her last cria, in 2022, she produced a LB /LRG male from our modern grey, LibertyAlpacas's Magistrate (co-owned with Liberty) that we named Hologram. We are watching his fiber develop and have high hopes! Now she is bred to Wesley -- the masked herdsire that may be in the 'grey' category but leans heavily towards spots.

RC '16 AOA Fleece, CC '17 AOA Halter Maelstrom is a 13x champion, the 2016 AOA National Fleece Black Reserve Champion, and 2017 AOA National Halter Black Male Color Champion. His first fleece was measured in 2015 to be 18.81 AFD / 3.62 SD / 19.2% CoV. To bring home his banners, he combined awesome shiny, fine and uniform handle with tight crimp from his dam with Secret's inky-black similarly crimpy, shiny, and consistent fiber. Though both dam and sire have great coverage, Mael's head is credited to his sire's beautiful headstyle that cannot help but catch the eye. He is well conformed and balanced in his frame. Maelstrom has a lineage filled with champion banners, exceptional lineage, and black genetics. In Maelstrom, you have a list of "who's who" merging into a TRUE BLACK 7/8 Peruvian cornerstone herdsire. Maelstrom is the progeny of our multiple champion black herdsire Wolf Den's Dark Secret, who is the optimal result of the pairing of Dark Quest crossed with Othello bloodlines. His paternal grandsire is the well known Snowmass Nova's Dark Quest, son of the famous Snowmass Nova, son of Snowmass Peruvian Casanova. He is out of our lovely Fossil Ridge's Special K, a 7x champion fawn dam hailing from the multiple Champion Rumaki, a Royal Fawn son with the bloodlines of Presido and Felix. His crias have been stunning! Maelstrom's cria coloration to date is 88% black (TB or BB) from a black dam and 100% on our farm by dams whose pedigrees are known to produce black and/or are loaded in black. He has been bred to both black (49%) and non-black (51%) dams. When bred to the lighter colored dams (white, beige, light fawn) he produced crias darker than their dams 60% of the time, even some black crias! When his progeny have been bred to black, 100% of the descendants have been black. More than of one of his crias born to dams at our clients' farms have been described as "blue-black" in their owners glowing compliments.
Maelstrom is closed to outside breedings. He is not available for sale unless with the purchase of entire herd; in that event, no breedings will be allowed until he is paid off in full.

Description

This girl looks just like her mom -- but in brown. Though not the true black or appy that we 'ordered' we are happy with NJAG's fine, crimpy, shiny, long stapled fiber. She is a compact girl that is well proportioned and conformed with a quiet, sweet personality. Like her mom, she is well covered with a teddy bear face. She is sweetheart in every way but one, she really hates to walk on a lead and will cush instead. Not sure why, but in general that is not a concern for us since we tend to influence movement and sometimes cradle hold to walk more often than we walk them on a lead. NJAG produced a beautiful dark brown girl from her breeding to Stradivarius, Enessa whom we have recruited to our black program! This girl is so very fine that her 'perceived density' took a hit in the show ring. She still placed at the Nationals show we took her to whereas others walked but we decided to focus on her benefits in our breeding program rather than in the ring. Enessa was bred to Secret for her first cria and produced a lovely, strong TB boy! Unfortunately NJAG lost her 2024 dark girl cria at birth, as a stillborn, perfectly formed but still in the sack which could mean that somehow the placenta detached too early in the delivery. NJAG has given us our Enessa, her replacement daughter, so we know that she can carry to term. However, since we have her daughter, she is still on our sales list. She is still considered a proven dam and will sale with her breeding rights, but we are dropping her price (just $1500 in our current sale) simply because we are reducing our numbers and is is for sale as a single. This extreme price reduction is for a limited time only. Catch this steal of a deal for a dam that has produced dark, who hails from a pedigree that made Avalon's Jacob Black -- a pivotal black herdsire in the industry!
