Alpaca Annuals listing comments drew us to Lori when we were looking to build our grey program years ago: "L'Oreal is our farm darling, extremely cute and very inquisitive. She is always the first to come see what's happening or who's visiting. Winning over "the boss" as favorite alpaca was no simple task, she just has one of those personalities and a look to go with it. She has great conformation with VERY FINE fleece, add in a shade of gorgeous dark silver grey and you see why we think she is so special. Lori is a wonderful mom and given us gray and black when bred to gray. At 10, she pronks and plays with the cria, this is no old gal....several more babies are possible from her. She is very healthy and acts like she is 2!" Since then, Lori has made us Merida -- a gem in our grey program and the somehow feel between the cracks as we gathered ourselves up to move to our farm. But this year she has produced a lovely TB girl, Brina, by or champion Major General that we are growing up with high hopes for a breeding future. Now, this dam is retired from breeding.

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Fawn

Full Peruvian, with champions in his bloodlines that make you take a second look -- yes, that is the now deceased multiple champion true black Knight Ryder who showed who took the ring by storm in his day. And Shades of Silver is the champion son of the notable champion Legend's Peruvian Revelation by KPR. This pedigree is definitely 'name dropping' if you are interested in champion black and grey. In his showing he often stood second to Val d'Sere, the legendary many times color champion and judge's choice winner. And during the color champion, though the CCNF male took reserve (after Val d'Sere took CC, of course), we got several 2nd glances by the judge when Axios moved up to the front row for consideration. Axios, for his first breeding year, bred to our Sparrow Lark (who had made a lovely TB female by our multiple champion black herdsire), produced a fantastic deep brown boy last year and a mirrored girl this year. Both are beautiful. His 2019 boy, Shakespeare, is still available as we ramp back up into show mode after the year of Covid-19 restrictions, and his 2020 girl was sold at her dam's side. In 2021, Axios made three beautiful female and one male crias for us! He throws color! Sweet Carolina is a well grown BG out of (LF) Aika; no fault to him as Aika is resisting putting out dark. Divine Glamour is a luxurious BB out of our MF Divine Lady, and Oraine is a glowing MB out of our champion white Danica. He also made a spectacular bay black male out of a our MF dam, Carnaval who unfortunately had an ear infection as a young cria that affected our ability to show him. So, the girls, Glamour and Oraine, had to represent Axios alone - both garnering banners! We are more than proud. He is closed to outside breedings but will be available as a service sire to sold dams from Autumn Sun Alpacas.

Description

FOUNDATION DAM - NOT FOR SALE. Merida is a hidden gem -- a foundation dam that produces champions. She is the daughter of multiple grey champion Annual's Bea-2 Bomber. Well grown and easy to keep, she has a long staple (over 7" in her first fleece), good uniformity for a grey, and soft handle. She is sweetheart, even when bred, and loves to give kisses. As the best of both worlds, she is a great mom also. She has produced a multiple champion grey male, sired by Red Granite's Royal Brutus; now a herdsire on our farm, AutumnSun's Artorius has fantastic crimp and density. As a 3 year-old his crimp was described by a judge as the example to review of zipper crimp, and this fleece has won him the 2023 AOA National Fleece Show Reserve Champion banner. Another champion cria, her daughter AutumnSun's Lucky Seven was sired by our multiple champion grey AutumnSun's Truthsayer. She also has a beautiful fleece that has won the AOA National Fleece Show Champion/Reserve Champion twice. We bred Merida to Axios for an anticipated cria this year. Unfortunately, this baby was not found in time to save it, as he was turned with his head under his chest. We were able to pull him stillborn from Merida and she is recovering well. He was a classic dark rose grey; sad loss. He had evidence of heavy bone and coverage potential. This still gave us some information.... Merida continues to make well-sized crias in grey coloration, and Axios makes grey as well as black. He has become our hidden black/grey producer!
