High Plains Elvis

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Silver Grey
AOA# 30506749, CLAA# 33847DOB: 5/30/200618 yrs
A high quality grey male that we are proud to own. Correct conformation and bite, he is always standing proud. High frequency crimp with good density, staple length and fineness. Elvis is maintaining his fineness at the age of 6 he is still 24 micron. His EPD results are also good, AFD -0.758, %F>30 -3.711 MC 1.195 and MSL 1.298. Elvis will add fineness, reduce the fibres over 30 and add both crimp and staple length.

To date Elvis has 19 cria on the ground, 14 females and 5 males. In 2012 Elvis produced 3 silver grey crias from a black, a dark brown and a medium silver grey dam. 2013 had Elvis sire 2 silver grey males, 2 fawn females, 1 white female. His bloodlines consist of Peruvian Hemingway, Peruvian Snowtex and PPeruvian Javier. Elvis is a very laid back alpaca, he never starts a scuffle but will stand up for himself. He is often outdoors regardless of the weather and his male crias are following his example, they are very hardy males. Elvis won 1st place with a score of 92/100 at Alpaca Ontario Mary-Ann English Spin-off Competition 2012, the spinner commented on how very evenly coloured his fleece is. Elvis won 1st Place and Highest Score in Colour Champion with a score of 98/100 at Alpaca Ontario Mary-Ann English Spin-off Competition 2013. The judge commented "very uniform, very soft - no guard hair, hand will feel even better when washed, beautiful to work with" In 2012 Elvis was entered in two Stud Raffles and both breedings were purchased We wish that more farms would show their older males as we think they deserve the recognition for keeping such fine fibre and stats as they age. We would love to show Elvis again. Congratulation to Erilyn Alpacas on purchasing my favourite grey!

Gramma Almond

HuacayaOpen (Female)Beige
AOA# 847880, CLAA# 27286DOB: 8/7/200321 yrs
Almond is a beautiful light, light fawn female and a proven dam. She is an excellent mom with a very good milk supply. She is very attentive to her crias, and all the crias in her pasture, she can often be found in the shade with half a dozen crias napping beside her. She has earned the name Gramma Almond as she is always watching over the crias. Almond delivered her last cria, a healthy female cria on July 8th, 2018. Tiny Treasure is the smallest alpaca born to her, she weighed in at 13 lbs. which isn't terribly small but our smallest. Tiny has great fibre and the best personality we have ever seen. Almond has correct conformation, good density with a soft handle to her fleece. She has a very gentle temperament but prefers not to be handled. She has passed this temperament on to all of her crias. Her one daughter Yazhi is the calmest alpaca we have ever had. Almond and her crias also have the best shear weight of all the different lines on our farm. Almond's Grand-sire Victor's Vaccoya has produced crias in every one of ARI's 16 natural colours.

Description

Sticking with our floral name theme in 2012 Bes is short for Black Eyed Susan. She has a black circle around one eye and the rest of her face is white.

Bes’s fibre is very dark brown, has a very wavy crimp to it and was 5” long at 8 months old.

Bes is halter trained, but still timid. She is calm like her dam and sisters. Bes is now old enough to be bred, we will include a free breeding to one of our herdsires of your choice.
