COLOR CHAMPION!! Stormcat is VERY black (3 of his 4 grandparents are black!)--it's late summer, and his fleece is Blue-Black--it actually looks like black velvet! He has a long long staple, a very bright fleece with pleasing medium crimp and organized structure. Very big bone on a correct, compact frame, with a level topline and fleece all the way THRU his toes. He has a teddy bear head that is so appealing on huacayas, with a good bite, and a pleasing personality that is worth breeding for, aside from everything else! Stormcat’s pedigree is a "who's who" of names – Accoyo Camilio, Pperuvian Guellermo, CPeruvian Jaxon as an impressive sampling. His sire is a 4x Champ with retained fineness in his fleece – at 8 years old he was still holding a 22 micron fleece – this is a heritable trait! Sire Axtion Jaxon is known for throwing dark color and grey, and Stormcat has EVEN MORE black in his heritage. Stormcat's crias are on the ground--a BRIGHT fawn out of fawn, and a fabulous bay black (with a silver nose!) out of a light fawn dam. His third cria, a dark brown girl, is clearly improved from her dam--she has bright, finely crimped, consistent and organized fleece, and an adorable conformation--she won 2 championships plus numerous blue ribbons and sold at a year of age. There's also a lovely black girl who has taken 2 Championships, and a black male who took a blue ribbon his first time out-- and more to come. In addition to passing on his dark genetics, Stormcat seems to pass on his perfect, compact conformation and head, fineness (for black), good growth in the crucial first 6 months, and outrageously long and luxuriant eyelashes! BREAKING NEWS: EACH of Stormcat's five crias for Alpacas of Marin has taken home a blue ribbon in halter competition their first time in the ring, and 2 of the 5 (Chukulati and her full sister Iquique) have taken color championships their first time out! Hey--looks like the "barn party" last July resulted in a Suri girl having a Stormcat cria, and he's absolutely adorable. So Stormcat can even improve your Suris! (not an official recommendation...) WHOO-HOO!! Stormcat placed 3rd of 11 in very, very tough competition for the Dark/Mixed Get of Sire Class at the 2013 SWRAS! We are absolutely thrilled to have him place behind Amber Autumns' Eclipse Alyst and Marquam Hill's Snowmass Trilogy--Stormcat placed above outstanding herdsires that are practically "household names"! Stormcat has made the rounds of West Coast Alpacas ranches over the years, but he has finally come to his "real" home at Alpacas of Marin in the North San Francisco Bay area--west of Petaluma and Novato. We have Stormcat and his champion True Black son, Torrefacto. We figure we will sell one of them and be thrilled to keep the other. We have a lot of Stormcat offspring now, so it's time to sell off either him or his son.

Dam: Barney's Babe of Peddler's Pack

Great Mom--champion crias--due 11/5/17!

Barney's Babe of Peddler's Pack

HuacayaBred (Female)Dark Brown
AOA# 1386110DOB: 4/25/200618 yrs
Barney's Babe is a dark brown female with lovely conformation and fine, crimped fleece for her dark color. Her first cria was a true black female who tragically died from an injury at a few days of age. Her second cria, Chukulati, (by our Stormcat), is a goregeous dark brown girl who did fabulously well in the show ring, with 3 championships. Congratulations to Jamie Clark Richard of Paca Paradise, who purchased Chukulati! We think BB has found her soul-mate in our true black champion herdsire, Dundee's AJ Stormcat! Each of her 4 offspring by him has a solid dark (3 black, one dark brown) blanket, with fine, bright fleece. BB gives them her gorgeous tight, well-defined bundles and a very nice crimp. Her second cria, Iquique, has repeated her big sister's performance with a Color Championship her first time in the ring, and is now our top dark huacaya foundation female. Both BB and Stormcat have strong, solid conformations--Stormcat gives a perfect head to his offspring, and BB contributes a beautiful gait--they all glide lightly across the pastures, barely touching the ground it would seem. BB was bred once again to Dundee's AJ Stormcat (they always hit it out of the ballpark!) at the end of November, 2016, and has an ultrasound-confirmed pregnancy, due early November 2017. Update: BB had a fawn male cria on October 21, 2017. He is adorable! She sells with cria at side plus another breeding to any of our males--or you can choose a male to breed to one of your other girls. BB is now at Alpacas at Windy Hill, brokered for us by Cindy Harris.

Description

The result of a proven winning combination: His dam, Barney's Babe, has bred 4 times to our champion black male, Stormcat. 2 of the offspring are multi-champions, and the third (Bubba) took a competative blue ribbon his first time in the ring! Incognito was boarded on another farm, and we never got around to showing him, but in retrospect we should have! He has beautiful jet-black fleece that the hand spinners snap up each year. He has a level topline on a well-balanced frame, and is a striking presence in the field that everyone notices. Incognito would be an outstanding fiber or pet male, but his beautiful fiber character would make him a great stud male for a small farm looking to add black color genetics to their herd. Incognito is on our North San Francisco Bay farm at Alpacas of Marin
