High Plains Elvis

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Silver Grey
AOA# 30506749, CLAA# 33847DOB: 5/30/200618 yrs
A high quality grey male that we are proud to own. Correct conformation and bite, he is always standing proud. High frequency crimp with good density, staple length and fineness. Elvis is maintaining his fineness at the age of 6 he is still 24 micron. His EPD results are also good, AFD -0.758, %F>30 -3.711 MC 1.195 and MSL 1.298. Elvis will add fineness, reduce the fibres over 30 and add both crimp and staple length.

To date Elvis has 19 cria on the ground, 14 females and 5 males. In 2012 Elvis produced 3 silver grey crias from a black, a dark brown and a medium silver grey dam. 2013 had Elvis sire 2 silver grey males, 2 fawn females, 1 white female. His bloodlines consist of Peruvian Hemingway, Peruvian Snowtex and PPeruvian Javier. Elvis is a very laid back alpaca, he never starts a scuffle but will stand up for himself. He is often outdoors regardless of the weather and his male crias are following his example, they are very hardy males. Elvis won 1st place with a score of 92/100 at Alpaca Ontario Mary-Ann English Spin-off Competition 2012, the spinner commented on how very evenly coloured his fleece is. Elvis won 1st Place and Highest Score in Colour Champion with a score of 98/100 at Alpaca Ontario Mary-Ann English Spin-off Competition 2013. The judge commented "very uniform, very soft - no guard hair, hand will feel even better when washed, beautiful to work with" In 2012 Elvis was entered in two Stud Raffles and both breedings were purchased We wish that more farms would show their older males as we think they deserve the recognition for keeping such fine fibre and stats as they age. We would love to show Elvis again. Congratulation to Erilyn Alpacas on purchasing my favourite grey!

Dam: Wakefield's Zorra

Wakefield's Zorra

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Fawn
AOA# 1380545DOB: 5/15/200519 yrs
Zorra has a well-balanced frame that is laden with rich and lustrous fleece, she is covered from top knot to toe. Her fleece is amazingly fine and uniform. At the age of 6 she was still 21.9 micron. Zorra is a great mother, her male cria in 2011 was sired by Snowmass Truly Invincible - another ultra fine fibre alpaca. Truly Blessed looks like he is taking after his parents. Zorra's 2013 cria is Zoom Zoom, who was born very active. She is a beautiful dark fawn with very fine fibre. Zorra was bred to our outstanding Reflection for an August 2016 rose grey male - Enthusiasm. As we were so pleased with Enthusiasm we rebred this pair for an August 2017 cria, but this time they produced a very white male cria - Reflection's Ghost. In 2018, Zorra was bred by Reflection's Amirror, again hoping for a grey, but instead we got a lovely female - Dusty. After Dusty was born we made the decision to retire Zorra from the breeding program. It was getting harder for her each year to maintain a healthy body weight for herself, she always put so much into her crias.

Description

Yep, she was up and running a mile a minute in almost no time when she was born. Zoom Zoom is halter trained and has been out to the local farmers markets many times, but she is still timid. Zoom Zoom's fibre is a beautiful medium fawn with a touch of red. Her second shearing was just over 4 pounds of crimpy Grade 1 fibre. Zoom Zoom has been bred to Reflection for an 2017 summer cria.
