It is with great sadness that I write, Bravado pasted away towards the end of 2018. He will be forever loved and we will forever be appreciative for all he did for our herd and many others. He was an amazing alpaca in all aspects and will be greatly missed! His girls have been our foundation! He is the first Herdsire we ever purchased! This is the very same Bravado who when bred to a girl we sold from our herd "Primera Dama" they produced The "Alpaca Palace's Houdini" !!!!! No introduction needed of course. Use the herdsire that Ian Watt says "will upgrade your girls to ELITE STATUS"! Champion is in his blood. Maple Brook Bravado is a blue ribbon, color champion-winning son of the infamous Bueno, and a grandson of the legendary Hemingway. Both of these males in his pedigree have contributed immeasurably to the North American herd and Bravado is now doing his part to live up to his famous lineage. Bravado is a full Alianza herdsire and is densely covered in that fine, characteristic Alianza fleece. At his third shearing, his micron count was 18.9! A testament to how well he is maintaining his fineness with age. In 2008 his micron count is still only 21 microns. As you would expect, his fleece is extremely soft and bright and is beautifully bundled. His coverage is uniform and extensive, and his conformation is perfect. Along with his other strong traits, Bravado seems to be passing his gentle disposition on to his offspring. The cria Bravado has on the ground are quite impressive and are bound to be show-stoppers. Bravado's sire, Bueno, has won more "Get of Sires" than any male in the country, according to Mike and Robin Tierney of Maple Brook Farm. His breedings now sell for $10,000 each and are extremely limited. Hemingway is no longer available for outside breedings. Both Bueno and Hemingway have produced hundreds of award winning cria. The combination of these bloodlines creates proven genetic potency for the next generation, which is evidenced in Bravado and his progeny. Bravado is proudly co-owned with Dr. Wayne Jarvis of Sixth Day Farm in Holley, NY. He and his cria can be seen at their farm or at Morgan's Fortunato Farm. Description

Bravado's Topaz is a member of our foundation herd for good reason...she's got spectacular fleece. Topaz was one of the select few alpacas in Silvercloud Farm's herd that Dr. Norm Evans did a skin biopsy on and here's what he had to say: “Topaz shows a density of 78.5 follicles per SQ MM of skin. The picture of 8 fiber clusters shows an S/P of 11.5 to 1. This density and S/P is very much above average for Huacayas. The 40X scan demonstrates tight, symmetrical fiber clusters. It appears that this trait is highly genetic. This cluster structure should certainly affect fiber character on the outside of the alpaca. The 250X scan demonstrates a sample of 100 secondary fibers that average 22.8 microns while 50 primary fibers average 27.1 microns. All scans show very low secondary medullation. The low secondary medullation is usually associated with nice handle. The density and S/P would be in the top 2% of Huacayas that I have tested. It will be a challenge to pick a breeding to improve this genetic package. We think he liked her, and think you will too! Topaz delivered a beautiful female cria in Spring 2011. She was bred to Silvercloud Farm's Walk The Line for a June 2012 cria. Walker is one of the many magnificent offspring out of one of Silvercloud Farm's top dams, Maple Brook Serina (Mint D'Or's dam) and Silvercloud Farm's Mercurio which produced one heck of a cria!!!! Tina came into the world on June 23, 2012 and she's just spectuacular with amazing fleece and a friendly, loving personality. Topaz was rebred to Lucky Luciana and just delivered a 22+lb male cria in June 2012, with fabulous thick, crimpy fleece, who is full of personality and life. He is sure to be a show winner!!! Topaz is currently bred to Silvercloud Farm's Lucky Luciano. Lucky Luciano is the fourth cria out of our "Grand Dam", Mulowe (a Hemingway granddaughter), and the first to share Mom's color of a Dark lustrous Brown. During his show career, Lucky Luciano won 4 COLOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, MAPACA 2005, The North American Alpaca Show 2005 & The Kentucky Classic 2005 as well as taking a Reserve Championship at PAOBA 2005 and a 1st Place at Buckeye 2005. Mike Safley, judging at the North American, said that his choice for Lucky Luciano for the Championship was a "No brainer" and immediately picked him from all of the first place males in the Brown class. ScF LUCKY LUCIANO is passing along the Champion genes to his crias. He has Multiple CHAMPION CRIA to his credit! Co-owned with Mike & Kelly Manning from Limestone Ridge Alpacas.
