Go-To Guy For Density & Color!

Starbuck de Alta Vista

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Brown
AOA# 1119299DOB: 10/8/200420 yrs
We had a hunch this guy would be spectacular from the minute he hit the ground. We've never seen such bundles of popcorn-like fleece on a newborn. As he developed into a yearling, we found soft rolling skin under that first baby fleece too! Starbuck exhibits amazing fiber density which led judge Amanada VandenBosch to comment that he is "really packing on the fleece" when she awarded him his first Color Champion Banner in Syracuse. When judge Jude Anderson awarded Starbuck the Purple Banner at PAOBA, she said that he was her pick the moment he set foot in the ring. Against tremendous competition in Columbus in the Bred and Owned Yearling Male category, Starbuck finished fourth of nineteen entries, just behind three other Color Champions - all lighter in color. And at MAPACA '06, a team of four judges awarded Starbuck first place in the Dark Bred and Owned Yearling Male category over 14 entries from top breeders around the country. Starbuck has a wonderful disposition, broad chest and strong legs. You can find every color in his pedigree including grey and black, and you may notice the strong Accoyo contribution from his dam's side. Starbuck's crias are following in his footsteps, garnering blue ribbons and even a Reserve Champion banner! All of these stylish offspring are very crimpy, dense and showcase an array of colors from beige to dark brown to black and grey! His latest edition is a handsome dark brown boy from a fawn dam. Congratulations to Thorn Hill Alpacas on their new arrival! NEWS FLASH! Congratulations to Nicole & Aaron Bourne, Dan Haar and Noel Moore of Riptide Farms in Sussex, NJ . . . Their boy, "Starbuck's Prince of Riptide" just beat out two multiple color champs to claim the BLUE RIBBON in his class at MABA 2012! Great job, guys!

Dam:

Woodsedge Peruvian Faith

HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 832267DOB: 9/11/200123 yrs
Faith is the sweetheart of Finca Alta Vista . . . when she is not pregnant, that is. She is the complete package . . . a proud stance, correct conformation, and jet-black fleece with a wonderful handle that is maintaining its buttery fineness even into her 10th year and after six crias! Faith's dam, Fortunata, is a beautiful pewter-grey Peruvian import who sold for $38,000 at auction in 2002 at the age of six. Her sire is the renowned true black Peruvian import, Chinchero. Faith has given us three amazing jet black crias, an amazing bay-black full-Peruvian boy, a dark brown Starbuck girl and now a super-fine MSG boy out of our own Silver Centaur.

Service Sire: Lancaster's Silver Centaur

Lingering Fineness & Density in Grey!

Lancaster's Silver Centaur

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 30903562DOB: 5/20/200717 yrs
If you are interested in Centaur, please contact Kit Hower at Blankstone Alpaca Farm. Lingering Fineness and Density in Grey!! They have arrived! Centaur's first class of crias have hit the ground and we are extremely pleased. Not only do they all carry an amazingly fine fleece, but they all have very square, solid conformation and beautiful, uniform heads and complete coverage. We did not breed him to any grey females in 2009 & 2010, but he has produced 8 greys so far. He produced black and grey crias 100% of the time when bred to black or grey dams, and 65% of the time when bred to other colors . . . including white! Centaur exhibits the rare grey combination of superb fineness and density and he carries a very consistent, high-amplitude crimp style throughout his uniform grey blanket. His bone structure is very dense and he carries his correct frame very proudly. Our initial suspicions of his quality were confirmed when he took a Blue Ribbon in his very first show appearance in a large class of juvenile grey males at the '08 Carolina Alpaca Celebration. Judge Time Lavan stated there that Centuar would go far if he maintained his fineness as he grew. Update: He has! In his first show appearance as a yearling, Centaur earned another Blue Ribbon from judge Peter Kennedy at the Empire Extravaganza '08. In his 2008 show finale, Centaur clinched the Reserve Champion Banner under judge Tim Lavan who praised his fineness, density and superior physical development. We continue to enter Centaur's fleece in spin-off competitions where he consistently takes 1st and 2nd place, even in the large shows of AOBA and MAPACA. You know you have a great grey fleece when the spin off judge comments "Wow!" for fineness and "Wow Wow Wow!!" for handle! Centaur's 2011 Norm Evans' fiber biopsy results have confirmed what we have felt and seen all along . . . superior density, top-level gland presence, high S/P ratio and lack of secondary medulated fibers. He is certainly on track to follow in his famous sires footsteps by maintaining fineness throughout his adult breeding career!

Bred to Gray!

Description

Kapardini is a great girl. She has a nice personality. Her sire is Starbuck de Alta Vista, a two time champion! She is a beautiful color of dark brown with a lot of density. She is bred to a gray, Lancaster's Silver Centaur, also a blue ribbon winner. She is a bigger girl for easy birthing. With the genetics behind this girl we are hoping for a champion cria in summer!
