Augusto's Peruvian Austin

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 831217DOB: 8/13/200123 yrs
DECEASED: It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Austin at the start of 2014. He was a very sweet gentleman and will be greatly missed by all of us here at Top Knot'ch. We are thankful for the remaining three offspring that he leaves behind and have great hopes for them. For those of you who are Augusto fans, meet his son, Austin. Augusto (named Kansas in Peru), is no longer available for outside breedings. He was the world's highest selling Huacaya male in 2000 at $226,000 for his predictable genetic improvement of his offspring. Don Julio Berreda wrote in 2005, "I am positive that whoever buys Kansas will be satisfied." Austin is an ideal cross between Augusto and Matador (True Black). He is a handsome large frame male, weighing in around 210 pounds. He yields abundant fleece as you can see from his pictures, that is also dense, with a super bold crimp, which exhibits brightness. Some of the things we especially like about Austin is that he has a very consistent fleece throughout his body without guard hair, bundles, and nice crimp even at 10 years of age. Austin was not shown by his farm of origin due to a broken toe. He possesses the characteristic Accoyo head with a very prominant top knot. His lovely personality rounds off this package! Austin sired six offspring. He has thrown a white to a light fawn, two whites to whites, and a light fawn to a medium brown. Austin is throwing very attractive crias. Augusta Rose, a female cria and white in color, is featured to the right, and has an exquisit fleece with bright beautiful bundles.

Dam: Marshmellow

Very Fine - Great Genetics

Marshmellow

HuacayaOpen (Female)White
AOA# 31233019DOB: 5/30/200717 yrs
Marshmellow has a beautiful head, great bite, very little guard hair, and her fleece is very fine and dense. Breed Marshmellow to a dense male with abundant leg coverage and you will have a shot at great success. We did just that, Marshmellow was bred to The Khantender Optimo for spring of 2010, who possesses great coverage everywhere of stylish, fine and dense crimpy fleece. Marshmellow’s genetics are definitely quality. Her sire is NWA, LTD Accoyo Legend, a white full Accoyo male by Ppperuvian Legend and out of Ppperuvian Angelica. Mike Safley utilized Legend who was given very high ratings at the time of importation. Legend’s dam, Angelica scored 9 of 10 with 19.6 micons and a double-plus density rating. Marshmellow’s grandsire is The Portland Kidd, sired by Leon, and known to produce ultra-fine and dense CHAMPION offspring. The Portland Kidd has sired countless quality offspring and well known herdsires to include Mr. Pennsylvania, ScF Chewbacca, and RA Buckskin. These males will surely spawn quality sires of their own. Chewbacca is a MULTIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP winner owned by Silvercloud with a 15.1 AFD and 76 follicles per SQ MM and an S/P of 16.8 to 1, which typifies the fineness and density of the Kidd’s offspring. RA Buckskin is also a MULTIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP winner owned by Alpacaholic Acres who undoubtedly will be making favorable contributions to future generations of alpacas. Marshmellow birthed a solid white crimp-laden female cria on May 20, 2010 sired by The Khantender Optimo, who we've been calling Bellari. This new cria's sire, The Khantender Optimo boasts well-known genetics himself and did quite well for us in the white full fleece halter showring with limited exposure and a spot in the blanket. Marshmellow had a female cria to our Augusto's Peruvian Austin, who we named Markita. Markita is white and shows a promising quality fleece with amazing high-quality coverage. Marshmellow will be exposed to LAAF Spartacus (Vic Jr's Hemiaccoyo Paladin X LA Balamani) for a 2017 cria.

Description

Markita is a fine specimen, she has super crimp coverage on just about all of her body. She has crimp well below her knees, under her belly, and even on her cheek fiber. Her crimps per inch is moderately high frequency, with a moderate amplitude. Markita had an injury in May 2014, and had her right hind leg amputated. She is a real fighter and has adapted well. We are hoping to consult for a potential prosthetic addition. We do not plan on breeding her. It is a shame because she is the best quality Augusto's Austin (now deceased) female offspring.
