Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Multiple Blue Ribbon Winner!

SPRUCE PARK BAYTONA

HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 831323DOB: 8/11/200123 yrs
SPRUCE PARK BAYTONA Her paternal grandsire, WRLA The Phantom, is a grand champion true black male. Baytona's paternal grand-dame, Tell Victoria’s Secret is also the mother of Tell Vivace—another excellent producer of high quality black alpacas. Baytona is a multiple Blue Ribbon Winner! She received First Place ribbons at Both, the 2002 Royal Manitoba Alpaca Show and the 2002 CABA National Fleece Show! She also won several other ribbons during the 2002 show season. Offspring: On 10/23/2012, Baytona presented us with a lovely true black female cria, with bright, soft fleece, out of Snowmass Rock Star XX. On 12/14/2013, Baytona gave birth to a beautiful true black male sired by our Snowmass Royal Knight. Snowmass Royal Knight is the spitting image of his sire, Snowmass Royal Bronze, only he is a True Black! Like his sire he has extreme FINE fiber over his entire body. If you can imagine a vicuna with fine black fleece covering its whole body, and having a long staple length, you can envision Snowmass Royal Knight.
