Jet black Black Mesquite daughter
MFI Meredith
HuacayaOpen (Female)True Black
AOA# 1034509DOB: 3/4/200421 yrs
Meredith is a jet black, well-proven daughter of legendary true black herdsire MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite and a true black Chilean import dam, Mela Parinacota.
Meredith came to our farm with her 1st cria, a true black daughter, named Michiko, sired by MFI Pistol. She then gave birth to our "redhead", Brenda Starrr, sired by DPA Quetzal. (Brenda is actually light brown). Then, in 2009, Meredith graced us with Blue Star's Genevieve, a bay black daughter sired by Canzelle's Zambezi. Her family tree shines through in her 100% female progeny.
Meredith is well-balanced with good proportions and a perfect bite. She has strong front legs and a nice broad pelvis. Her disposition is calm and she is easy to handle, if a bit reluctant to lead.
Meredith has the typical fleece of a true black of her age; that being said, her 2009 fiber test boasts a CV of 15.4.
Meredith's 1st cria, FPA Michiko, sired by MFI Pistol (son of legendary Dakotia), took 6th place at the Level 5 North American Alpaca Show in 2009. Meredith's 2nd cria, Brenda Starrr, sired by the renowned beige herdsire, DPA Quetzal, placed 4th at the 2010 North American Alpaca Show. These 2 girls are noticeable improvements over their dam, thus reflecting well on Meredith being a valuable production female.
Michiko's AFD at 2 years old (prebreeding) was 26.3, Brenda's AFD at 1 year of age was 23.9. These are quite good numbers for black (& half black) alpacas.
Meredith's 3rd cria, Blue Star's Genevieve, was sired by the award-winning black herdsire, Canzelle's Zambezi, & at 2 years old measured an impressive 23.2 micron count.
Please see the listings of these 3 cria for their complete fiber statistics.
