JLF's Loxias
Alpaca, Suri, Herdsire (Male) | True Black
AOA #1380903 | DOB: 6/11/2005 (19 yrs)
Sire: 5P Millenium
1380903<--ari-->DF<--color-->Millenium was imported w/ dam 5P Silver Mercedes a light silver gray.
This male is a phenotypically superior suri and was born just after his dam arrived in the United States from Peru. This makes Millenium an entirely unrelated herdsire to all of the other imported herdsires in the United States, which is something to think about as that suri gene pool gets more crowded with interrelated alpacas.
Millenium has sired some outstanding cria including a white male who took 4th place at AOBA in 2004! As you know, to place at all in white is outstanding, but it is especially remarkable that an animal sired by a colored alpaca placed so well. This attests to his superior fiber and conformation!
We are extremely excited with one of his newest progeny... a TRUE BLACK male born in the summer of 2005 to a dark fawn dam. Even as a dark fawn male, he is putting great locks and lustre on the crias he sires and his gray face makes him a gray alpaca according to color geneticist Dr. Phillip Sponenberg!

Dam: BHF Juno
1380903<--ari-->Light Fawn, Dark Fawn<--color-->Juno is a full Peruvian, rare vicuna-patterned suri with a gray muzzle, gray ears and a face that will melt your heart. Her fleece is soft and consistent with a nice cool hand. She has a perfect bite, good conformation on a well-proportioned frame. As she was the only alpaca we had at that time not in production, she’s had a limited show career but never disappointed us and always placed when entered. She has given us a true black, luster off the scale male we called Loxias (see separate listing) whose name fits him perfectly.
We have no doubts she would be a great asset to a farm with a black breeding program. Her price in no way reflects her value. We are just concentrating on white and need the room.....our loss - your gain!

Description
Loxias is a full Peruvian true black suri male that has inherited his sire’s mild personality and his mom’s Juno’s playful nature. His luster is off the charts, the handle of his fleece is slick and cool. His sire is Peruvian Millenium who has produced 100% suri offspring and is now deceased. His regrowth has remained lustrous and fine showing good density and uniformity. Loxias’ offspring have all been dark colored cria.
He produced black when bred to black. His Paternal grand-dam was the import, Silver Mercedes so the possibility for gray exists also. He is the perfect choice to use to cover those Macgyver females as he is one of the few full Peruvian true blacks not related to the MacGyver line
