Description
A Hemingway granddaughter of pure Alianza lineage. True to her pedigree, Avril has a dense fleece with good crimp definition. Well conformed, she combines substance with elegance. Avril is the daughter and sister of Champions - including a full brother, Aztec Avatar.
Sire - Aztec Avalance was a Champion in Canada before being exported to England in 2002.
Avalanche's dam, PPPeruvian Snowspirit 4729, was imported from the Rural Alianza in 1995 at the age of 2.5 years with an AFD of 17.1 and a fleece weight of 6.5 pounds. At 6 years of age, she had a micron of 22.3 - and her fleece placed 1st at the 2000 Westcoast Sweepstakes! Snowspirit produced 12 crias for AOBA judge Jill McCleod & family of Aztec Alpacas in Canada, including at least 2 Champions.
Dam - PPPeruvian Snappy 4783 was another gem from the Alianza herds of Peru, and highly prized by her owners, Aztec Alpacas of Canada. Imported at 2 years of age, her fleece weight at importation was 6.0 pounds of 21.1 micron fleece. Snappy produced 4 Champions.
The McCleod family offers this tribute to Avril's dam: "PPPeruvian SNAPPY was the victim of a cougar attack on November 8, 2008. Born in Peru in 1993 and imported to the US in 1995, we purchased her from Snowmass Alpacas and she came to our farm in 1998. Over the past 10 years, she has been our top producing female with 8 female and 2 male cria. 3 of these earned Grand Championships in the show ring, both males are being used as herd sires and we know of at least 50 registered alpacas that have Snappy in their pedigree. --- WE ARE GOING TO MISS HER!!" www.AztecAlpacas.com
