Dam: Maria's Angel ImportAB98
1287035<--ari-->White, Dark Fawn, Medium Rose Grey, Dark Rose Grey<--color-->Maria is a very unusually marked appaloosa. She appears to be a brownish gray with dark fawn spots. Her face appears to be black and white but is actually black and beige. When we first saw Maria at Ore Hill Alpacas, we really wanted to bring her home. Finally, that event happened and Maria has been one of our most steady foundation animals. She has produced black, rose gray, and fawn. Next, we're hoping for a little appaloosa carbon copy.
Update: Maria had a beautiful appaloosa male. See his info under Enchanted Hill Birkenspot. We are so pleased with this little fellow that we've repeated the breeding. Stay tune for another gorgeous little appy.
July '08 Update: Well, it wasn't an appy, but the sweetest little white girl you'd ever want to meet. Since we have two of Maria's daughters in our herd, plus an appy grandaughter, we've decided to offer Maria for sale. Bred to Mr. Butterscotch, the cria should be awesome, and covered in spots!
October '09: Maria is due on the 23rd, bred to our appaloosa herdsire, Mr. Butterscotch. We're hoping for another spectacular appaloosa cria. Stay tuned!<--description-->
Description
Oh-Be-Joyful was named because of unique spirit. At just a couple of weeks of age, Oh-Be was the most playful cria in the herd, flinging herself around in full abandon! If no young herdmates were interested in playing, she'd run into one of the adults and was always wearing at least a small amount of green spit. Finally, if no one would pay her some attention, she'd leave the whole herd and run off to find her little goat friends, one of which she'd seek out to do a little nose-to-nose greeting.
With Oh-Be's personality, beautiful and crimpy fawn fiber, and her Peruvian/Chilean hybrid blend, she has been a great member of our herd. However, age is catching up to us and we've decided to reduce the herd to a small group of appy females (plus one token fawn that we can't part with), so Oh-Be-Joyful is seriously offered for sale. She has raised four crias and is now dying to breed again. For the appy lovers, we want to remind you that Oh-Be's dam was a harlequin grey, and Oh-Be has produced, when bred to Bo, one of the most striking appaloosa daughters--Appalucy--that you'll see anywhere. So, we'd recommend Bo for breeding, but any of the other three appy males would make equally nice "partners". The buyer can decide.
