Enchanted Hill Gift
Alpaca, Huacaya, Open (Female) | Medium Rose Grey
AOA #31619707 | DOB: 5/12/2009 (15 yrs)
Sire: Avatar's Avery
31619707<--ari-->Medium Rose Grey<--color-->Delphi's Avery is bringing the outstanding Avatar genetics to Virginia! And to Enchanted Hill Alpacas! Due to Avatar's outstanding fiber characteristics and conformation along with his ability to pass these features to his offspring, his breedings are being limited and his offspring are being more and more sought after.
Avery is his sire's boy - with the same lovely color and presence, and excellent conformation as well. He is well-covered with very soft lustrous fleece, and with crimp beginning to become more pronounced at his young age.
Avery's dam, silver-gray Receta, is one of Delphi Alpacas' best producers, and has maintained an AFD of 24-25 well into her older years. In addition, Receta has an excellent handle and CV as well. Because Receta is a definite silver grey, she has to be homozygous for the black gene, which means that Avery definitely carries a black gene. Down the road, then, Avery can produce browns and fawns, true blacks, rose greys, and silver greys.
At Enchanted Hill, we can hardly wait for Avery to mature and to begin passing on his outstanding features and genetics to a new generation of crias.
Update: Avery's first offspring arrived in September/October '08--both females, so we can now say that Avery produces 100% girls. His first daughter is a gorgeous rose grey and his second a dark fawn, both with great coverage and fiber character.
Update: Avery has three more offspring, a fawn male from Enchanted Hill Camelita (Chervil), a rose grey female from Dominique's Celestia (Gift), and a brown female (Oh My Gosh)from NGG Black Betty. Well, 80% females isn't bad, especially when all the offspring look terrific!

Dam: Dominique's Celestia
31619707<--ari-->Light fawn<--color-->Our search for Celestia began when we became enamored with Tell Hot Shot, a super Canadian stud bred and shown by Judge Jane Tellier. Not only were we fascinated with his conformation, fiber, and color, we found that Hot Shot also carried the same appaloosa gene that had been passed down by his equally well-known sire, NGG Lional.
On the male side of the family, Celestia has Tell Hot Shot as her father, NGG Lional as her grandfather, and Peruvian Bueno as her great grandfather. On the dam's side is her wonderfully fibered mom, Tell Dominique. Dominque's sire is Victor's Vaccoyo. Here is a quote from Victor's owners, the Fellers of Sunset Hills Farm: "VICTOR VACCOYO is a full Accoyo macho who consistently transmits his phenomenal fleece characteristics of deep bold crimp and extreme density to his offspring. He is a renowned sire of Show Ring Champions, both in the United States and Canada. The son of PPeruvian Victor, this male is probably one of the best Victor son's.

Description
Gift was born to a dam that lost one of her back legs a few days after being bred. After two surgeries, lots of medications, and five weeks at the VA Tech Vet School, Celestia still carried her pregnancy. This little girl was born without a hitch and has been a miracle to behold.
For the appaloosa lover, we'll point out the Gift's dam, Celestia, is a daughter of Tell Hot Shot, a well-known harlequin appy, and Hot Shot, in turn, is a son of NGG Lional, known to carry an appy gene. And, of course, as you will note below, Gift has produced an appaloosa daughter.
Gift, bred to Bo, produced a gorgeous appy daughter in spring of 2013. She had an easy birth and was a wonderful mom with plenty of milk. Now, here it is Fall 2014 and she's "dying" to be bred. Cutting our herd to a small group of appy females (and one token fawn that we can't bear to part with), we have recently made the decision to promote Gift as a bargain, for-sale girl. She can be bred now and we recommend Bo, but the buyer can make the final decision on this. No matter the mate, we'll bet on a gorgeous cria!
