Mr. Personality Plus, alias "Bo", is probably the calmest herdsire you'll ever meet. On top of that, Bo has incredibly dense, crimpy fiber from head to toe. And finally, those unique appaloosa spots make him completely one-of-a-kind. This spring, Bo settled several females (confirmed by ultrasound) and we can hardly wait for the crias to make their appearance. Oh! If only you could see spots and plumbing with ultrasound!

While searching pedigrees of huacaya alpacas known to have an appaloosa gene, we ran across Dotti's name, and just "knew" she had to be an appaloosa. And, sure enough, we found her owner who confirmed our suspicions. Yet better than that, Dotti was for sale. Now she is part of our growing herd of appaloosa huacayas. Dotti's sire, Hobby Horse Ringside Rumor, still has beautiful fiber at seven years of age. His skin biopsy results are: 65 follicles/sq mm and an S/P ratio of 15:1 placing him in the top 5% of all animals evaluated by Dr. Norm Evans. Ringside Rumor is a 4X Champion MF son of the great 7X Champion SA Peruvian Black Epic. Dotti's dam is the medium brown Snowmass Legacy's Joy. Even at twelve years of age, Joy maintains fantastic fleece qualities. Her sire is the well-known 4Peruvian Legacy and her dam is 5Peruvian Ajoyani. As for Dotti's fiber, it appears she has inherited the best from both. She is dense, crimpy, well-bundles, and fine. We can hardly wait to see a cria from her and one of our appaloosa herdsires. Stay tuned in! Dotti was bred to our appaloosa herdsire, Queen B Bodacious, soon after arriving at the farm. A year later, Einstin was born--a fantastic appy. He is now standing stud at TMMA farm in Florida. Since we were so pleased with Einstein, the breeding was repeated, and Dotti is due Spring 2016 with another cria sired by Bo. Since both Dotti and Bo are appaloosas, this new cria has an excellent chance of being an appy, and could even be homozygous for the appy gene. If you'd be interested in purchasing Dotti, and having her new cria born into your herd, give us a call or drop us an email!

Description

Little Einstein earned his name, when soon after birth, he pulled himself up into a sternal position, remained there a few minutes, then carefully raised into a wobbly 4-legged position. Gaining confidence rapidly, he took a few awkward steps but never fell. Dotti, his mom, happened to be in just the right position for his head to go underneath with his lips right at the udder. Voila! He was able to latch on and began to nurse. Had someone else told us this story, we would not have believed it! What a smart little cria! Einstein was a little on the small side at birth so it will take him a little longer to reach a weaning age later in the spring. We want to shear him here and keep that wonderful cria fleece, but Einstein could be available for sale by mid-May. Check him and his pedigree out.
