Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Our search for a female appaloosa for Enchanted Hill led us to the Delphi website a long time ago. There we learned about a striking appy by the name of Stella Nova. Unfortunately, Stella had been sold. However, we continued to watch the Delphi site and admired Black Betty (Stella’s dam) and Avatar, the stunning Delphi herdsire. When Betty became available, bred to Avatar, we just had to act! And act we did! Betty's '06 cria, sired by Avatar, is a well-fibered, conformationally correct light brown female who will remain as an integral part of the Enchanted Hill herd. Betty was bred to Derwydd Peruvian Novio for a fall '07 cria that was a spectacular true black male. Betty is a full sister to Penumbra, a Delphi herdsire, who may be viewed on the Delphi AN page. She is half Accoyo Peruvian, from a fine fleeced dark silver gray mom. She's a good sized, well conformed girl, with extremely dense, crimpy fiber. Betty is a trouble free mom, getting pregnant easily, and having lots of milk. In 2002, Betty produced Stella Nova, who sold at the 2003 Alpaca Futurity Auction in Indianapolis. Betty's 2003 cria is a phenomenal true black boy, Oracle, with extremely fine true black fleece (18.2 microns at 1 year of age). Her 2004 Avatar daughter, Disa, is a gorgeous red girl that sold at 3 months of age. Disa is also extremely fine, with extremely dense crimpy fleece. Betty's 2005 cria is a white Presidio son who will remain as a future herdsire at Delphi. October '08 update: Betty produced a gorgeous female rose grey cria, and is now rebred to Avatar's Avery for a fall '09 cria. She is still for sale but will not be able to move to her new herd until March '09. October '09 update: Just like clockwork, Betty produced a medium brown female at 10 months, 3 weeks. See Oh My Gosh in the sales list. May '11 update: Betty had a fawn male and is ready to breed.

Mr. Personality Plus, alias "Bo", is probably the calmest herdsire you'll ever meet. On top of that, Bo has incredibly dense, crimpy fiber from head to toe. And finally, those unique appaloosa spots make him completely one-of-a-kind. This spring, Bo settled several females (confirmed by ultrasound) and we can hardly wait for the crias to make their appearance. Oh! If only you could see spots and plumbing with ultrasound!

Description

Abigail was born in the early morning of August 3rd, 2006, which was one of our hottest days on record. She was nursing within 10 minutes and playing within 20 minutes. We expect this quick and successful rise to a healthy, playful form to be an indication of an outstanding career in the Enchanted Hill herd. Abigail hails from two outstanding parents. Her dam, NGG Black Betty, has been an outstanding producer for the Delphi herd, and Betty's full brother(Penumbra) is one of the key herdsires for that herd. Abigail's sire, the well-known Avatar, has done well in shows as well as producing outstanding offspring. In the spring of 2006, Avatar was selected to be in the IAO Elite Herdsire Services Auction. His breeding sold for four thousand, eight hundred dollars. Updates: At three months of age, Abigail's fiber is looking terrific. It is dense, crimpy, and amazingly lustrous. At 10 months and the first shearing, Abby produced a beautiful fleece. At almost three years, Abby still had really nice fiber. At 33 months of age, Abby had: AFD-19.62, SD-5.63, and CF of 97.38! With age creeping up on our joints, it is taking longer and longer to complete chores. So, we are downsizing to just the appies and a couple of old favorites. Abby is for sale, along with her new male cria, George, born the same day as the new British prince. Abby is also offered in a package with Monique and her female cria, Berta. Check out the packages we have to offer.
