There are few alpaca herd sires in the same league as MacGyver’s Balboa. He is co-owned by Park View All American Alpacas in Oregon and Victoria Lane Alpacas in Ohio. During the course of his show career Balboa racked up 16 Halter Championships-- 13 Color Championships and 3 Reserve Championships. And his fleece won a few awards too. At the MAPACA 2008 Fleece competition, Balboa’s fleece was awarded a First Place and Best Suri Locks. Then at the 2008 AOBA National Fleece Show, Balboa was awarded First Place and Reserve Color Championship. His fleece also received a Special Award at Nationals for Best Suri Locks. Balboa’s offspring have accrued more than 25 championships among them to date! Though he is true black, Balboa specializes in both light and dark colored offspring, and both do equally well in the show ring. Thus it is at the 2011 Futurity, he was named both Dark Herd Sire of the Year and Reserve Light Herd Sire of the Year. Included on the light side of the family, from Park View Alpacas, are: Lucieno of PVA, 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; the divine Imperial Princess of PVA, 2011 IAO Supreme Color Champion, 2011 CABA Color Champion, and 2011 Futurity Res Color Champion; Balboa’s Fanfare of PVA, the 2011 IAO Color Champion; Chablis of PVA: 2010 GWAS Res. Color Champion, and 2011 IAO Best Head; and blue-ribbon-winning and future color champion Chardonnay of PVA: 1st 2011 AOBA National Show, 1st 2011 Futurity, 1st 2011 GWAS, and 2011 IAO Best Head. But wait, Balboa makes dark Color Champions as well! These include, again from Park View Alpacas: Bejeweled of PVA, 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; Nataliah of PVA, half-sister of PVA Mahogany Prince and 2011 AOBA National Show Color Champion; Chanterelle of PVA, 2011 Futurity Color Champion and 2011 AOBA National Show Reserve Color Champion; Fawnessa of PVA, 2011 IAO Color Champion; and the immortal, memorable Testaverde of PVA: 2011 Color Champion at the IAO, the CABA Classic, the AOBA National Show, and 2010 Futurity Color Champion. Balboa has also sired some champions for Victoria Lane Alpacas. His first offspring to hit the ground, Balboa’s Adrienne, won 3 Reserve Championships during her show career. Then Adrienne’s full sister, Balboa’s Lexi, came along and also took 3 Reserve Championships—FABA 2011, Best of US 2011, and CABO 2011. In addition to these accomplishments, Balboa is just plain an all-around great guy. He’s friendly and intelligent, easy to handle, comes when he’s called, doesn’t cause problems with other males, and treats his ladies with dignity. UPDATE: NEW CO-OWNERS M&M ALPACAS OF NORTH CAROLINA

Lusterlocks of PVA

SuriOpen (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 30570719DOB: 6/30/200618 yrs
Lusterlocks is a beautiful alpaca with an elegance to her overall appearance. Her fleece has high luster even though she's been producing crias. Be sure to check out her fiber statistics. At 4 years old 23.4/6.7/28.5/11.4 is impressive. Her temperament is calm. She's an attentive mother. This COLOR CHAMPION female was named for her great luster and phenomenal locks. A review of her pedigree indicates the origin of her ideal suri characteristics. Both of her parents, Luciana of PVA and Keanu of PVA were COLOR CHAMPIONS at the AOBA National Show and all of her grandparents were also COLOR CHAMPIONS, as well as winners of multiple Get-of-Sire and Produce-of-Dam awards. Lusterlocks of PVA's siblings have also won multiple championships as well as multiple SUPREME CHAMPION awards. Consistency in quality, conformation, fleece and reproduction have been the hallmarks of the Park View breeding program and this colored female takes it to yet another level for our industry! Her cria out of Balboa is a beautiful light fawn female (Merrielle of PVA) with very high luster. Merrielle was born August 12, 2009 with an IgG of 2150. Lusterlocks was re-bred to Balboa for a 2010 cria since the first cria from this cross was so stunning. The male cria born 8/23/2010 is dark brown and looks fabulous in every way. Way to go, Balboa and Lusterlocks! Lusterlocks was bred to PCAF Accoyo Kaden 8/6/2011. On 7/28/2012 she delivered a white male cria that weighed ~16#. Shiny and bright, straight and handsome, this young male looks fabulous. Stay tuned.

Sandoval, first cria from Marisol of PVA X Gambini of PVA is TB and truly lovely. Fleece is bright with luster - soft as silk, nicely structured. Lots of fiber on head, beard, neck and legs. Sandy has a great disposition. Inquisitive, quiet, pleasant to handle. Gets along well with others. Impressive results in the show ring. Judges comment on his silky, soft hand and high luster. We think the soft hand, good density, consistent lock structure and VERY nice luster will be a winning combination on this male. We're already plotting various pairings on and off our farm! First breeding was to our blue-ribbon winning "Velveteen's Bristol-Cream" – a medium brown with white face which produced a very nice, totally solid color Bay Black male cria, "Halahuni." This animal is so nice looking we repeated the breeding. Sandy X Bristol-Cream (TB X MB) produced BB male 9/21/11 we named Halahuni. Halahuni has bred his first females. Sandy X This is Ruthie! (TB X TB) produced TB female 8/22/12 we named Famke. She looks great. Sandy X Magic Rumor (TB X MB) produced TB female 9/8/12 we named Kismet. She too looks great. Sandy X Bristol-Cream (TB X MB) produced DB female 9/17/12 we named Rubicon. White blaze on nose; fabulous girl. Sandy X Merrielle (TB X LF) produced a big, precocious LF male 8/9/13. Sandy X This is Ruthie! (TB X TB) produced a perfect conformation, knock out DRG male 8/23/13. (first DRG for us!!!) Sandy X Balboa's Maruca (TB X LF) produced a very striking MB male 9/18/13. We love you Sandoval! Your babies are the bomb! You can purchase Sandoval of VA for a song. Make us an offer and he's yours. He is a GREAT animal with lovely progeny, a terrific disposition. We encourage you to take a look, meet him, make us an offer, take him home.

Description

Merrielle is precocious and bright. She has gorgeous locks, luster, conformation, consistency. Her fleece is a pretty light fawn with very uniform color. She won 4th place at the 2010 International Alpaca Odyssey and 2nd place at 2010 Alpacamania. Merrielle is an excellent production female. Bred to Sandoval of VA, our True Black herdsire, Merrielle delivered (surprise!) a Light Fawn male cria with VERY fine, very nicely locked fiber. "Crosby" is strong and should be considered for a breeding program. Merrielle is a terrific dam and ready for your breeding program. Or if you like, we can breed her as part of the consideration. Don't hesitate to come by to meet her and see her first offspring. We're sure you'll be impressed. This young, elegant Balboa daughter will be an excellent addition to your program for both breeding and fiber production.
