Go-To Guy For Density & Color!

Starbuck de Alta Vista

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Brown
AOA# 1119299DOB: 10/8/200420 yrs
We had a hunch this guy would be spectacular from the minute he hit the ground. We've never seen such bundles of popcorn-like fleece on a newborn. As he developed into a yearling, we found soft rolling skin under that first baby fleece too! Starbuck exhibits amazing fiber density which led judge Amanada VandenBosch to comment that he is "really packing on the fleece" when she awarded him his first Color Champion Banner in Syracuse. When judge Jude Anderson awarded Starbuck the Purple Banner at PAOBA, she said that he was her pick the moment he set foot in the ring. Against tremendous competition in Columbus in the Bred and Owned Yearling Male category, Starbuck finished fourth of nineteen entries, just behind three other Color Champions - all lighter in color. And at MAPACA '06, a team of four judges awarded Starbuck first place in the Dark Bred and Owned Yearling Male category over 14 entries from top breeders around the country. Starbuck has a wonderful disposition, broad chest and strong legs. You can find every color in his pedigree including grey and black, and you may notice the strong Accoyo contribution from his dam's side. Starbuck's crias are following in his footsteps, garnering blue ribbons and even a Reserve Champion banner! All of these stylish offspring are very crimpy, dense and showcase an array of colors from beige to dark brown to black and grey! His latest edition is a handsome dark brown boy from a fawn dam. Congratulations to Thorn Hill Alpacas on their new arrival! NEWS FLASH! Congratulations to Nicole & Aaron Bourne, Dan Haar and Noel Moore of Riptide Farms in Sussex, NJ . . . Their boy, "Starbuck's Prince of Riptide" just beat out two multiple color champs to claim the BLUE RIBBON in his class at MABA 2012! Great job, guys!

Mulowe-Line Grey Producer!

We are proud to add Silvercloud Farm's first female cria from 4X Color Champ ScF Lucky Luciano to our foundation female barn! In buying her we broke one of our cardinal rules of alpaca purchasing . . . "Never buy sight unseen." Thank goodness rules were meant to be broken . . . what a knockout this girl is! She has a super-fine, dark fawn fleece with very high-frequency crimp, and her proud, upright stance makes her a stunning addition to our pasture! Given Mulowe's reputation (her paternal grand-dam), from AML Principio (grandson) to ScF Lucky Luciano himself, Shandi has a promising show and breeding career ahead of her. She has already ribboned in every extremely competitive, Level IV and V show that she entered. Throw Accoyo The Last Don into the mix here as Lucky's Sire and we've got quite the powerhouse foundation female in the making! And on the Dam's side? Maple Brook Alana is a Bueno daughter and a prized member of the Silvercloud Farm foundation herd. Shandi's first cria is a stunning rose grey female out of our very own Silver Centaur! Her second cria is a handsome low micron/low CV white male out of our multiple champ, Starbuck. Her third cria is quite possibly one of the nicest rose grey alpacas we have ever seen...anywhere! We liked the results of this Shandi and Centaur pairing so much that we repeated this breeding for 2013!

Loaded w/Color Genetics!

Description

If you are looking to add color genetics to your light-colored females, Julio should be on your list of must-sees! He is loaded with color genetics from white to fawn to brown to black and grey . . . on both sides of the pedigree. In his only show appearance, he held his own at MAPACA 2011 against strong competition, placing 6th out of 15. Both Julio's Dam and Sire are Champions, representing some of the most renowned color pedigrees in the business. In fact, his Dam, Silvercloud Farm's Shandi, has emerged as our leading producer of grey crias. This is no surprise since she represents Mulowe, a maternal line well known for producing many blue ribbon and champion offspring! Julio's histogram is impressive in that it remained virtually unchanged from his 1st to his 2nd shearing. In fact, the micron count actually decreased despite all other variables remaining constant! 2011 (1st Shearing): 21.6/18.9/3.1 2012 (2nd Shearing): 20.1/21.0/1.6 From what we are seeing now, Julio is retaining a nice crimp structure and bundling, and should maintain a low micron and CV for 2013. He may be just what you are looking for if you want to add these highly favorable fleece characteristics to your color huacaya breeding program!
