Ben MacDhui

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 817456DOB: 9/5/199925 yrs
MacDhui's ARI certificate reads like a veritable "Who's Who" of the nation's top grey alpacas! His sire, Request the Best, is one of the most spectacular grey herdsires to be found anywhere, a multiple blue ribbon winner who placed first at the AOBA Nationals for three successive years. Dhui's grandsire on his father's side is the great medium rose grey, Cisco Kid, who is also sire to the famous General Schwarzkopf. From his black dam, MacDhui has inherited perfect conformation and a grey and black pedigree going back four generations, including SA Silverado and The Silversmith. Quite apart from his star-studded pedigree, Ben MacDhui is well known on the show circuit as a top quality grey herdsire in his own right. At MaPaca 2002, Mike Safley pronounced him "the densest alpaca in the class" and at the 2002 Virginia Classic Dr. Anthony Stachowski remarked on his "exquisite head" and "exemplary density". Other judges comments include "wonderful fleece", "very typey conformation" and "stylish". MacDhui is a real head-turner, with a wonderful temperament, excellent coverage, conformation and fiber. His first son, the half-Peruvian rose grey Kinross, sold as a future herdsire at only 4 months of age and won a blue ribbon in his first show. His first daughter, Shannon of Cairngorm, placed second in the "Bred and owned female" class at the 2005 Virginia Classic and sold within a week of being offered for sale. His second daughter, Eilwen, sold before she was weaned and without ever being listed for sale and placed third in halter at the 2006 Virginia Classic. His medium silver grey son, Skye, sold as a herdsire prospect and won a blue ribbon in yearling halter at the Level V Buckeye Show in 2006. Elin, his beautiful half-Peruvian dark brown daughter, won a blue ribbon at MAPACA in 2007!

Dam: Luciano's Ishbel

Danko/Platinum line

Luciano's Ishbel

HuacayaBred (Female)Dark Silver Grey
AOA# 851869DOB: 9/13/200321 yrs
Luciano's Ishbel arrived the week before Hurricane Isabel, hence her name, which is the Scottish form of Isabel. This half-Peruvian bombshell is a Danko & Platinum granddaughter, and has inherited four generations of world class grey and black ancestry from her dam, Hisami. A lovely, black Danko daughter, Hisami has extremely fine (20.3 AFD), soft-handled fleece, great coverage, a nice typey head, and has proven to be a wonderful mother. Ishbel's sire is El R Peruvian Luciano, a full Peruvian medium rose grey son of the renowned Peruvian Platinum (deceased). Luciano had an adult micron count of 19.3 and 2.3% of fibers over 30 at his 3rd shearing. His density and handle are excellent, he has a full topknot on a true to type huacaya head and a calm temperament with great presence. Luciano won blue ribbons at the 2003 International Alpaca Odyssey, the 2002 Southwest Regional Alpaca Show, and the 2002 Calpaca Regional Show. Ishbel's maternal grandsire is Danko, one of the top grey herdsires in the country, whose offspring have set auction price records and taken ribbons in every showring. He is a phenomenal herdsire with outstanding coverage and conformation and an AFD of 21.4 at 2 1/2 years of age. Mia, Ishbel's maternal granddam, is a "blue black" Macintosh daughter who remains black all the way to the tips of her fleece. Selected from the Alpacas de la Patagonia herd for her exceptionally strong, straight, dense-boned conformation, Mia has nice luster and a fine, soft handled fleece, with a micron of 24.4 at 4 years of age. Ishbel has exceptional fineness and a wonderful high frequency, low amplitude crimp to her fiber, which is now turning dark silver/dark rose grey. With her wonderful typey head, excellent coverage, and proud, upright presence, Ishbel has already earned herself a place in our foundation herd, as well as our hearts!

Description

Cameron Rush is a multiple award-winning medium silver grey male with barely a spot on him anywhere. With his long, fine, soft-handled, uniform grey fiber, excellent bone structure and coverage, perfect bite and remarkable presence, Cameron has "herdsire" stamped all over him. We had originally planned to keep him, or sell only a half interest, but his sire has just produced a black son, so Cameron is now available for sale, with 5 retained breedings. At 10 months of age, he had over 5 inches of fiber growth, and he was shorn to the skin when he was a week old. Cameron's bloodlines combine the best of the east with the best of the west coast - Danko, Peruvian Luciano, Request the Best, Silverado and more. His silver grey half-brother won first place in the yearling halter class at the Level V Buckeye Show, and we believe Cameron is even better! His sire, our Champion grey Ben MacDhui, is a consistent producer of quality, colored progeny - his offspring that have been shown have won first, second or third place ribbons at Level III AOBA-certified shows or above. His last 5 crias have all been solid black, out of brown, fawn, beige and indefinite dark dams. Ishbel, Cameron's dam, has tremendous presence and the most beautiful fine, soft-handled dark silver grey fiber, with amazing staple length. This multiple award-winning female also boasts heavy bone, awesome coverage, compact, typey conformation and a perfect bite. Approaching her 5th shearing last year, she still had a staple length of over 4 inches after 11 months growth, of soft-handled, usable, fine, uniform, luxurious fiber. Cameron's January 2009 staple length is already over 5 inches, with three more months of fiber growth before shearing - how many greys do you know with staple length like that? One look at this award-winning boy, and his outstanding heritage, will tell you why this is one junior herdsire prospect you really should not pass up.
