Bay Black/Black (color checked both bay black and black at shows in 2006) son of 10 times color champion, Zephyrus (The Cria Barn at Cranberry Creek, Ohio and Sunset Hills Alpacas, Pennsylvania), this outstanding young male did well in the show ring in 2006, never placing out of the ribbons and winning a blue at the GMAF, Madison, WI. and IAOBA, Peoria, IL. This male has very dense, very fine, crimpy fiber with high frequency crimp. The fiber analysis of a randomly selected sample gave him a 17.7 mean fiber diameter! His very dark color is in contrast to his fawn sire. Zephyriah's true black mother has given us show winning crias in black (bay black) and grey. We are very pleased to announce that Zephyriah is now co-owned by Don and Connie Payne of Oak Lawn Alpacas. Zepyriah has now settled females(August, 2007).

AOA# 30334564DOB: 10/24/200519 yrs
Bedelia is the second daughter and cria born to our Patagonia's Orphelia. Half sister Nishelia, did extremely well in the show ring in 2005 and Bedelia has continued her winning ways. In 2007, half brother T. Will took a reserve color in his first show at six months of age. In Bedelia's first show she was second to the color champion at the Madison show and then went on to take first in her class of dark brown juvenile females at the GWAS in Denver. Her Castano Bay sire certainly gave her outstanding conformation and the combination of parents contributed to her crimpy, fine, dense fiber. Bedelia's first cria, a true black female 3/4 Peruvian(DOB 6/1/2008), is already impressive. This cria also marks the first cria for our full Peruvian, Ark's Zephyriah, a Peruvian Zephyrus son.

Description

Myriah, a true black yearling female, is the first cria from our herdsire Zephyriah. She did well in the 2009 shows with a third in a large black juvenile female class at Txolan in February, 1st place in a large juvenile black female class at Spring Bling in March, and a reserve color championship at the Illinois Alpaca Show in May. Her strong attributes are her very fine, very bright fiber with small, frequent crimp structure. As a cria, she appeared to be wet due to the brightness of her fleece. She also, not surprisingly, has a very soft hand. Cria sheared at less than one month, her re-growth was outstanding, causing several judges to ask if she had been previously sheared. Myriah has very good conformation, with large diameter bone structure and an especially pleasing head which she inherited from both her sire and dam. Her sire, Ark’s Zephyriah, is the full Peruvian son of Zephyrus from The Cria Barn at Cranberry Creek and Sunset Hills Alpacas. He got his fineness, density, and lovely head structure from Zephyrus. He is bay black/black depending on the day and the light source. The dam, Ark’s Bedelia, is the daughter of Peruvian Castano Bay, owned by Mile High Alpacas in Colorado. Bedelia is a dark brown female with black face and feet--from her black mother. She won her large, dark brown juvenile female class at GWAS as a juvenile. Myriah is her first cria. Myriah would be a fine addition to any herd looking for black ancestory. She could be bred this fall, 2009, or continued on in the show ring. Myriah comes with a free breeding to any of the Alpacas of the Ark herdsires including our multi-champion grey, Splendour in Grey (Myriah’s black grandmother has always produced grey when bred grey!).
