Congratulations to Jan & Gary Middleton of Silver Lining Alpacas (Arlington,Wa.) for their purchase of Silver Charm!
Even though we recently sold Silver Charm we feel we need to have him on our list because his genetics are the basis of our herd and breeding philosophy.
He is a proven super herdsire in every respect - reproduction, fiber, presence and personality (a large ranch that recently stood him was even amazed by his intellegence). We would like to point out some of his accomplishments from '06:
Judge Mike Safley awarded him 3rd Place in Get of Sire at the Level V Great Western Alpaca Show. His representatives were two silver grey and one brown offspring. This was in a sea of whites and well-known full Peruvian sires! We welcome you to check out the list of competitors on the 2006 GWAS show results on the AOBA site.
Earlier at that show Mr.Safley had commented to a bystander that these were the best greys he had ever seen and then <--description-->
Dam: JA Hula
30442344<--ari-->Medium Brown<--color-->1/2 Peruvian
Hula is a half Peruvian female out of OutBack Jack. She has that great combination of Peruvian genetics from her sire and color from her dam. Her first cria placed second in the brown class at AOBA in 2001. Her second cria won blue ribbons at both the Kentucky Classic and GWAS in 2003. Her next cria, a female out of Silver Charm, placed 1st in a very competitive class at the ABR Fall Festival and went on to win the Color Championship. UPDATE! Hula'S female from last year just won her second Color Championship in a row at the Mid America Show!
In 2006, Hula had a fabulous female out of our multiple Blue Ribbon and 4-time color champion rose grey, Rayo's Roso e Grigio. She is now bred to Brutus' Firecracker. We can't wait to see what his combination produces!

Service Sire: Avalon's Peruvian Tri-Star
Description
Mesa is a lovely daughter of the well respected grey herdsire, Lanark's Silver Charm. We first saw Mesa at the 2006 Mid-America Show in Topeka, Kansas and were taken immediately by her soft, crimpy, bright fiber. When she went on to take a first in her class, and then Color Champion, our own assessment of her was confirmed.
We are pleased to have had the opportunity to add this striking female to our foundation herd, and look forward to seeing what she can produce with some of our outstanding Color Champion males. Last fall we had planned to breed her to the newest addition to our herdsire row, Our Peruvian Black Jag. But, at the last minute we learned that Tri-Star had produced a true black son for our partners in Arkansas. With the potential for Tri-Star to produce dark color, we decided to breed Mesa to him instead. We can't wait to see what these two Champions can produce together!
