Andean is of medium build, has a very full fleeced head and shorter muzzle. His fleece is superb with dense, rich fiber that has a fine handle and consistent bold crimp throughout. His coverage is unbelievably complete from head to fetlock. Andean is just a perfect example of an alpaca that has it all, and the judges agree awarding him 13 blue ribbons and 8 banners. In fact he took the first AFCNA fleece award at the 2006 AOBA national show beating out younger and lighter colored fleeces. He also won the color champion at the 2007 Buckeye show at 5 years of age and as a grand finally to his show career he took the brown champion and the judges choice award at the 2011 Buckeye show at almost 9 years of age. Tickled Pink was the name we chose for this darling female at that time she was born. Of course, we were “Tickled Pink” she was a female and then when we saw her incredibly crimpy bright fleece it seemed even more appropriate to give her this name. Tickled Pink is out of our beloved Sunset Hills Ivory and Sunset Hills Andean Gold. These are two of our very best lines and they proved their worth in this female. Sunset Hills Ivory hails from our Contessa (Caligula line) whose cria we can never seem to keep on the farm because everyone loves them and Sunset Hills Andean Gold who is our multi halter Champion who has won many Blue and Champion ribbons for his fleece as well, including the prestigious, “Spirit of the Fiber Industry Award” winning over every other colored fleece at the AOBA Nationals 2006.He is undoubtedly one of the finest fibered herdsires on our farm. So, Tickled Pink has the best of these parents in her beautiful and feminine conformation and her very narrowly crimped fleece which is dense and well organized throughout her blanket. And as for coverage, Tickled Pink is covered from her teddy bear-like ears to her toes! And if you like a sweet disposition, Tickled Pink is the one!
