Congratulations to our friend Annie Hunt of Willow Wind Farm, for acquiring a share of Avatar. Please contact Annie about Avatar breedings. We are thrilled with Avatar's newest creations - including Delphi's Avella - The 2017 National grey female halter Champion at just over 6 months of age. And congratulations to Avella's new owners, Debbie and Dale Hoerl; Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch! Many more Avatar crias will be arriving in 2018. Avatar has beautiful crimpy, dense, and fine fleece, but what separates him from other outstanding herd sires, is his phenomenal handle - due to both exceptional uniformity, and very bright, low scale fiber. Cameron Holt, AOBA Senior Judge Trainer and world wide fiber expert, gave the following scores to Avatar's fleece: Fineness: 15 out of 15 ; Handle: 5 out of 5 ; Uniformity of micron: 7 out of 8 ; Crimp: 8.5 out of 10 ; Density: 3 out of 5 ; Brightness: 8 out of 10 ; Lack of medullation: 8 out of 10. His daughter Delphi's Lailah won Color Champion Grey Female Fleece at the 2012 Nationals. His son Delphi's Rama won a Blue Ribbon at the 2012 National Fleece Show, (and then brown Color Champion at the Tenessee Waltz Fleece Show). These two Avatar kids insured Delphi's win of the 2012 Classic Cup for fleece, at the 2012 Nationals. Another standout offspring is Kanaka - an 8X Champion with 1% EPD's in both SD and >30; and 2% EPD's in fineness. While we don't participate in the program, we agree Avatar's son Kanaka's EPD stats do reflect his sire's strong suits. Avatar's many other crias now include Six AOBA National Halter or Fleece Champions, several Futurity Champions, and many many many Multi-Champion and Blue Ribbon show winners, in addition to the winners of many Special Awards, such as the Best Brightness award at the National Fleece Show - the first time this award has been awarded to a grey. Please enjoy viewing some of his lovely crias and their fleeces, shown below. Sold - Congratulations to Nancy Chapel of Alpaca Country Estates! Ike's advanced Judge's Choice fleece, which scored 87 points - puts him in a very very small class of elite classic gray herd sires. And, in halter, he was awarded Color Champion at arguably the toughest halter show in the country, the Futurity. Judged to be superior in quality, by senior judges, in both halter and fleece shows. In showing, This is the mark of an elite male. And, in terms of Production - he's already produced National Champions in both Black and Gray. Please see his fleece score card pictured here. Scores such as these are rarely awarded to alpacas of any color. His first Three shearings have each won at least one championship - proving lasting quality. Ike started settling girls when he was just 21 months old, he is a pleasure to manage as a sire. I fell in love with Ike at first sight (and feel), at the 2013 Futurity, when he was 7 months old. Thank you to Gary Henderson of Keva Ranch Alpacas, for producing Ike, and allowing him to join us here at Delphi! At 8 months of age - YM's laserscan = 13.9 / 2.8 / 20.0 / 0.4% >30 At 20 months of age: 5-16-14: AFD 16.31 / SD 3.44 / CV 21.1 / 100% CF At 32 months of age: 5-24-15: AFD 20.5 / SD 4.2 / CV 20.7 / CF 97.3% At 44 months: 5-23-16: AFD 22.5 / SD 4.6 / CV 20.6 / CF 93.2% / curve 59.8 He's definitely the total package.

Visit Ike's Web Site!

Ike is closed to outside breedings. Crias shown in the 'all of Ike's kids' picture posted here, include All of Ike's kids born to Delphi girls thru Jan 2019 at Delphi, except two that left with their mom's as little babies. His production consistency is unmatched. :^)

Description

Riva is the dam of Naia, possibly the best alpaca that Delphi has produced in our 26 years. Riva delivered Delphi's Bloom on 7/15/19. Bloom is typey and So so soft, she'll surely Bloom into another star. Bloom's full sister Naia was just awarded her second National Fleece Banner. Naia won National CC gray fleece in 2018, and National RC gray fleece in 2019. Riva represents the very best of Delphi genetics. Some of Riva's full siblings: 1) Devamani - Futurity Reserve Champion and AOBA National Color Champion Grey female of 2005. Sold for $34,000 at the 2008 Futurity Sale, mother of National Blue Ribbon Delphi's Shavana, and Ark's Multi-Champion Dubuque. 2) Ava - 6 time Champion Rose Grey female. 3) Ravi - Maroon Blue Ribbon winner exported to Canada/Europe - AFD 16.3 / SD 2.6 / CV 15.8 / 0.4% >30 at 3 years of age. 4) Alice - 2 time Champion maroon female, sold at the 2010 National Auction. Riva's 38 Special son had the finest AFD result we have ever had here (13.6 at 10 mos.). Her Golden Legend breeding resulted in a stunning fawn girl, Aviatrix. Bred to Ike, she delivered beautiful dark rose grey Iko - Reserve Champion at his first (big) show. We repeated that breeding for Naia. No matter the sire - Riva rocks. Thank you Riva for your wonderful crias! Riva will be retiring with us here at Delphi. Riva's histograms: YM - 5-21-11 = AFD 17.1 / SD 3.7 / CV 21.8 / 0.7% >30 YM - 5-11-12 = AFD 17.1 / SD 3.7 / CV 21.3 / 0.6% >30 YM - 5-13-13 = AFD 17.9 / SD 3.7 / CV 20.6 / 0.9% >30 Alpaca Consulting - 5-16-14 = AFD 17.4 / SD 3.9 / CV 22.6 / 100% CF

Awards

[1st] First Place - CABA Fleece Show - 2012
[1st] First Place - Fallfest Fleece Show 2011
[6th] Nationals 2011 - same competition - unusual results. ;^)
[2nd] GWAS 2011 (two weeks later . . . ) - 2nd place class of 13. Peter Kennedy had a tough time deciding between her and the winner of the class, who was the same lovely girl (38 daughter Rossi owned by Zumbador Alpacas) who placed first in their class at The Futurity. But now there were 11 more alpacas to compete with, which made it much more fun!
[2nd] Futurity 2011 - 2nd place - class of two. We were disappointed the class was so small.
