Dam: BSSA Lovie Dovie
30329799<--ari-->Medium Fawn<--color-->Dovie was our very 1st purchase, but unfortunately she is no longer with us. We miss her very much. We purchased her in 2007 from our mentors, who recommended her for a first female. It was a wise purchase as Dovie soon delivered our 1st cria and became our teacher. She was an experienced mom when we purchased her. She bred easily, delivered without assistance and was always very protective of her babies. Her 5 offspring included 2 white males & 3 females-- W, LF & DF. She always added her superior fineness to the strengths of the service sire. At 9 years of age, her fiber was still a grade 2. Dovie is the grandmother of our 4x Color Champion and one of her sons is now one of our best herdsires. <--description-->
Description
In the fall of 2007, we were under contract to purchase our first pregnant female from Falkor Ranch. Before the ink was dry, Carmen was born. Our very first cria was a little girl! She is still our little love. Although her dam was a big girl, Carmen has always been dainty and feminine. In 2010, we watched our first cria deliver her first cria, a little girl! That little girl went on to be a 7 x blue ribbon winner and a 4 x color champion. Meanwhile, Carmen's fleece continues to be excellent for her age. She scores well in fleece shows and spin-offs. Her yarn is lovely. She is a super star among our foundation females.
Wow! It doesn't seem possible that Carmen is now 13 years old. Over the years, she has been a fabulous foundation dam. She has given us some wonderful crias, a few are still here and producing more wonderful offspring. Some have gone on to new homes.
One year, Carmen kept us all on pins & needles. Either she had the longest gestation on record in this country or she slipped an earlier pregnancy and later rebred to an unknown male. Regardless, he is a gorgeous little boy born 9/24/17. He looks like his mom! He remains small but mighty and is now in Texas. He's a 4H star and a therapy animal for children with cancer!
