Our homegrown Nautilus son has been rated in the EPD's Top 1% for not only Fineness but SD.at 4 years old! Want to talk about lingering fineness? Want to talk about lingering fineness AND super density in the same alpaca? Here is our secret tightly held home grown superfine Nautilus son out of Accoyo America Elegance a full accoyo Endurance daughter/Caligula granddaughter. He's well built on a strong stout frame, medium sized with a perfect bite.
Elegance was one of the finest full accoyo females I have ever seen, and we won many blues with her in halter and fleece. Elegance sadly passed away when Renaissance was 3 months old, and we have kept her son safely on our farm.
Needless to say he was a little slow growing, between being orphaned and putting all his energy into a very fine, extremely long staple. We will not be showing him in halter due to the fact we can't replace these genetics. Even with all that stress I found no stress breaks in his fleece. We found our boys a bit on the "well fed" side in 2012 so we will be adjusting our feeding schedule accordingly.
We are so impressed with Renaissance we bred two more females to his sire! Nautilus delivered again for us-a very fine white male out of our Bueno daughter(SOLD), and a crimpy solid dark fawn female out of our award winning brown female Sweet Temptation. We think so much of Renaissance sister Temptress that we bred her to Snowmass Matrix and now have their two sons, Magic and Mystic Sun.
We were sorry we let Renaissance's daughter out of Champagne Gold go so he is bred to Champagne again this year. She delivered a totally awesome male so we repeated the breeding for the third time. I have only kept one Renaissance daughter Lilikoi. Although we don’t use him much, we love his offspring we don't have many unrelaated females to breed him to.
We will reserve 2 breedings
