Description
Looking for black or gray genetics? Here is your girl! GiGi is true black with dense and crimpy fiber. She descends from two silver gray parents of Chilean heritage. Both grandsires are true black and both granddams are rose gray. In fact, GiGi is 4 generations deep in gray and black color on both sides of her pedigree. We believe Gigi is a homozygous true black, meaning she only has black genetics to give to her crias. We believe this as both parents were gray, and black is recessive to gray. so both parents had to throw a black gene for GiGi to be black. Had one thrown a gray gene, GiGi would be gray. This is a great asset as she can potentially help you identify the recessive color/s of your herdsires, and she can increase your chances for gray or black since you know 50% of the equation you are dealing with.
GiGi's sire, HPCA Shogun, was a blue ribbon winner at the 2003 AOBA Fiber to Fashion Winter Nationals and was Reserve Color Champion at the 2002 Estes Park Wool Market. We chose Shogun to breed to GiGi's mom, Azure, for his large size and bone and his extremely dense and crimpy silver gray fleece. GiGi has correct confirmation and good bone with straight legs and correct bite. She gained weight rapidly, weighing 64.2 pounds at 5 months of age when she was weaned. She is the product of a normal pregnancy and unassisted delivery, her dam's first offspring. Her rapid weight gain suggests ample milk from her dam, a heritable trait that GiGi should possess as well as ease of delivering crias. She is a delight in our pasture with lots of energy and curiosity. We offer GiGi for sale bred to our huacaya herdsire, Tuscan Gold. She is ultrasound positive and due for an August 2007 cria.
