Expectations were extremely high for Sadie's cria sired by Snowmass Royal Rose and we have not been disappointed. When a cria of this quality hits the ground you're glad it's a boy! Odin has grown into young man of incredible poise and stature and his fiber just gets better and better. He exhibits consistent, incredibly dense, high frequency, high amplitude crimp from topknot to belly to stifle. Every judge he's shown under has commented on his commanding presence, gorgeous head and outstanding density. We can't wait to see what he puts on the ground. Much to our delight this fall Odin received the Blue at Big"E" then turned around and was awarded the Blue and Reserve Color Champion at the Coastal Classic. As if that weren't enough he received another Blue in the Fawn catagory at the fleece competition! Odin was awarded the Blue at Empire and Second at the highly competitive Green Mountain Show in Vermont, atta boy! Odin is a popular guy this season, looks like 10-12 Odin offspring due next year with a couple of breedings still waiting in the wings. Not bad for a guy just now 2 years old. Odin's cria are here and do they look great! They are very consistent in conformation and presence and the fleeces are gorgeous! It appears he is adding adding density AND fineness to the females he's bred to. Look for them at the spring 2009 shows!

Battenkill's Takhi

HuacayaOpen (Female)Dark Fawn
AOA# 31676267DOB: 11/1/200816 yrs
To consistantly produce alpacas like Takhi has been the goal of our program. Quiet, conformationally beautiful and with dense, very long and very crimpy fleece she represents what we hope for. Her sheering weight was the highest of our females and her briteness and character always draw compliments. Shown only twice, she earned only disappointing ribbons due to her "overconditioned" appearance. Her fleece did draw very nice compliments and a recommendation to breed her from the judge, but her conditioning evaluation was at odds with a body score of "3" given by 2 very experienced camelid veterinarians. We can only guess that her staple length and density lead to a deceivingly barrel like appearance. The purchase price includes her maiden breeding to QR Principio's Grand Slam, currently at Quarry Ridge Alpacas.

Little Man is proven and has received a blue ribbon the one and only time he was shown. For that reason I have decided to add him as one of my herdsires as he's a true ladies man, always showing interest in the females he is put in with, so far he has proven himself as he has confirmed his ladies pregnant the first day he was with them. Little Man has nice crimpy fiber that measured in at 4 inches. his first son Jamal was lucky as his father passed down great fiber characteristics.
