Wills died 1/18/2014. He acted the clown all the way up to the end, always the caring gentleman. William is a promising young herdsire with superfine fleece and beautiful coloring. Though white at birth, his rosy grey fiber gets darker and more pronounced with each shearing. Regarding conformation, Prince William has a strong frame and has had straight legs since birth, with great coverage that goes all the way down to his toes. His first cria is a lovely little girl with bright, soft, curly fleece. So far we know that she has inherited some of his spots, with two fawn patches on her tail and one on the crest of her head. Whether she's inherited his developing-grey, only time will tell. Names in Prince William's pedigree on his sire's side include: Xanadu P Placido ('06 MOPACA Get of Sire), Snowmass Highland Bell ('06 Great Western Alpaca Show Produce of Dam), Snowmaster, Presidio, and Caligula. On his dam's side: Invincible, Legacy, Pendragon of Peru (placed 1st at AOBA '00 and 2nd at Futurity '02), Hemingway, and Camelot. As for color, William’s sire has thrown colored &/or patterned cria five times out of six, and his dam’s heritage is speckled with browns and blacks. And if you’re interested in producing grey, although there aren't any readily noticeable greys in his lineage, both his maternal uncle and half-sister are greys. From what I've found on the ARI website, William is one of only three Invincible grandsons registered as grey, and one of five registered grey Snowmaster Great-Grandsons. 2015 EPD Results and accuracy: AFD -0.922; 0.235 SDAFD -0.262; 0.235 %F>30 -4.598; 0.252 MC 1.542; 0.224 MSL 1.344; 0.189 FW 0.392; 0.165 Personality wise, William is a gentle and mellow soul. He's very good about picking up his feet for trimming and stands calmly for shots. AND he's an easy leader - during National Alpaca Farm Days he participated in every obstacle course session, allowing the kids to lead him over a bridge, jumps, and through some weaving poles with both patience and enthusiasm. UPDATE: After some research (through Northwest Alpacas's and Openherd's import records) and calculation it turns out that William is a little over 1/4th accoyo, 9/32 to be exact - assuming Snowmaster's sire was accoyo - and a little over 1/3rd Alianza, 11/32 technically.

AROSA Peruvian Whitley

Whitley is an incredibly friendly and outgoing female. She loves giving kisses and is always the first to greet me when I walk through the door. Whitley is also a very photogenic alpaca; it is a rare occasion to find her without her ears pricked in attention. She is full peruvian and 7/16 Accoyo and 7/16 Alianza, with a multitude of fawns and whites, as well as a medium brown in her background. Her heritage includes Misty Maiden (Dam of the Century, sold for $205,000), Camelot 9040 (Western Ohio Triple Crown Get of Sire), Royal Fawn (Sold for $600,000), Camilio G4561 (Fawn Full Accoyo), Auzengate 6010 ("Prolific herdsire sold to Australia"), and Felix G4562 (2X Get of Sire). Her fleece is very fine. Both her dam and sire have maintained low micron counts in later years of their lives. Her dam had an AFD of 21 at age 7, and her sire had an AFD of 19.75 at 5 years old. Whitley's fleece is bright with great crimp in her blanket. I believe she could use more coverage and a slightly longer staple length, as well as some more bone. However, she brings good density and nice bundling to the genetic table, along with her aforementioned fineness and endearing personality. Whitley has had two lovely girls with bright, soft, curly fleece. She is a wonderful mother with plenty of milk - her first cria consistently gained an average of 3 pounds a week over her first four weeks and was up to 42.2-lbs at 8 weeks old; and her second cria has gained a whopping 10.6-lbs in her first two weeks! She has also passed on her sweet, inquisitive personality and photogenic nature. 2014 Histogram: Whitley's results were double checked, just to be sure, and came back the same both times. I can only guess her lower stats have something to do with her being on a better diet for the 8 months prior to shearing. UPDATE: 2020 EPDs are in!

Description

Say her name five times fast and you'll get it :) Uriel is the first alpaca born on our farm and we couldn’t be happier with her. At birth she came out at 16.8 lbs, and by 8 weeks old was up to 42.4-lbs. She's a little over 1/3 Accoyo and 1/3 Alianza, with about 1/10th Chilean in the mix. She is covered in bright, soft bundles of crimpy fleece, which just seems to get better and better every time I look. Uriel inherited William’s rascally personality, and her mother’s love for kisses. She also loves getting her chin and neck scratched. And, of course, treats are always met with great enthusiasm - carrots, apples, lettuce, my glove... Color-wise, she's got a lot of potential. Her Rose Grey sire didn't start out that way; he was born a bright white and gradually darkened over the years. If she takes after him she may darken with age too. She has two fawn patches on her tail and one small, light patch of fawn that sits at the very crest of her head that kinda looks like a crown or a star if you squint, which may indicate that she could throw color, even greys. This little one has an amazing collection of ancestors behind her, including: Snowmass Invincible, Presidio, Snowmaster, Misty Maiden, Camelot, Camilio, Auzengate, Felix, as well as her great-great-great grandparents Caligula, Hemingway, Legacy, and Royal Fawn. Other ancestors of note are 2X Futurity Color and Breed Champion Legacy Gold, National Champion Royal Velvet, Maree Love (dam of both Quechua and Invincible), as well as Champion producers Placido, Magnum (2X AOBA Nationals grand champion), Admiral (17X 1st-3rd), St. John, and Highland Bell. UPDATE: Uriel gave birth to her first cria, a beautiful little boy. He's early, but shows no sign of it. At 13.8 lbs, he's gained about a pound a day over his first week - at six days he's decided to give hay a try. Uriel's content to let her son wander - provided he checks in regularly and doesn't go too far without either her or grandma Whitley to keep an eye on him. Her sister, Wilma, hasn't quite figured out what to make of the new baby, but sticks close none the less.
