We simply cannot sing the praises of El Segundo de Royal Fawn enough, but we are content to not overly hype him. His kids provide enough hype all on their own to satisfy us. Moreover, at thirteen years of age, Segundo has as of this writing our single best breeding record for 2009. All his drive-by and in-house breedings have settled in one breeding only, which is amazing for any male over the age of ten! We are thrilled as well that the two females that have produced the winning-est of all of Segundo's offspring, Mulowe of SilverCloud Farm and Kilblaan Satine of Glacier Rock Alpacas, have been bred back to Segundo this year. For Mulowe, this is her third time to be bred to Segundo, and her prior two are both well-known champions that are producing champions. Segundo is co-owned with our friend, Carol Karsten of Hidden Hill Farm, in Antrim, NH.

Satine - perfectly describes the feel of her fleece, even now at her age. This sister to NM Beethoven's dam produced an exceptional cria every time, regardless of the sire. Each one inherits her elegant bearing, that 'something extra' that goes way beyond good conformation. Check out her offspring: - daughter, 'HHF Segundo's Sonatina', Futurity Reserve Champion! Sired by Segundo de Royal Fawn. - son, 'Maestro', a brown male sired by El Segundo de Royal Fawn, her third by that well-know sire of Champions. - son, 'RollOverBeethoven', medium brown male. Sired by Hidden Hill Peruvian Pundit. Pundit has one of the most spectacular fleeces we have ever seen. Imagine that in BROWN. Satine delivered a new baby boy this morning. He is incredibly crimpy and seems to be medium to dark fawn.

Description

Glacier Rock's Maestro is a son of El Segundo de Royal Fawn, who was among the greatest, most prepotent sons of Peruvian Royal Fawn ever to stand at stud. His dam is Kilblaan Farm Satine, sired by NZ Maori Magic, a "sleeper" super-sire whose fantastic offspring include the dam of NM Beethoven. Maestro's full sister, HHF Segundo's Sonatina, took reserve championship at the Futurity. His gorgeous full brother, Segundo's The Sandman, has been a consistent producer of fine fibered, highly attractive offspring. Okay, yeah, sure -- he has a whopping pedigree. What about the actual animal? Maestro himself carries himself proudly, with solid, flat bone on a squarely-built frame. He possesses full fiber coverage on his legs and a dense topknot, with a sleek, clean face. His fiber is long of staple, of good density and moderate, mid-frequency crimp, and is still quite consistent at four years of age. Royal Fawn and El Segundo have proven themselves multiple times to be carriers of recessive black, and I would be pretty shocked if Maestro was a producer not only of true black, but of grey as well, when bred to appropriate dams. I have decided to put a price on Maestro, and that price is ridiculously low. It is not reflective of the quality of this male, who is an elegant, solid, studly macho and is the full brother to a futurity reserve champion and son of a legend. It IS reflective of the fact that a male of this quality really ought to be working, and, due to the genetic makeup of my herd, that is unlikely to happen here. Grab him at this price before I change my mind!
