Description
A son of Royal Peruvian Challenger (a SOLID Dark Rose Grey) Sunny Mesa's Pepperdyne has exceptional fiber coverage. He will produce solid black when bred to black who display high frequency crimped, bright fiber in the 17-18 micron range. Pepper transfers his exceptional coverage including stove-pipe legs, excellent fiber character, density, brightness and conformation. He carries grey genes from his Dad, a champion at AOBA in '99 and the wonderful fiber characteristics of his Dam.
Pepperdyne produces lovely gray too: Ezra Gray, a handsome tuxedo gray male from a rose gray female, Castle Rock Cognac Reserve VS, a stunning award winning silver gray male with an incredible histogram: AFD:15.7, SD 3.2, CV 20.1% %>than 30 microns .5 Spin Fine 15.2 Comfort Factor: 99.5%! And apparently, he can produce gray when bred to black as well; Jenna Rosita surprised us by 'turning' dark silver gray between her second and third shearing!
Pepperdyne's Champion progeny include Color Champion Sunny Mesa's Reilly II and Reserve Color Champion Coal Black who was recognized by two senior judges for his fineness in halter and fleece shows. His full sister Velvet follows Coal in quality and fineness.
Pepper's progeny are still winning in the show ring and maintaining extreme fineness:Color Champion Reilly placed 1st in the 2012 ABR Fall Festival Fleece Show with a 19 out of 20 for fineness and handle! Arturo Pena commented:'Excellent fineness for age. Good brightness.' Sunny Mesa's Reilly II has impressively fine, consistent fleece: AFD: 17.3, SD: 4.0, CV: 23.2, %>30: .9! Spectacular numbers for a breeding female! Las Bonitas' Santana was awarded 2nd place at the very competitive 2012 TxoLAN Alpaca Spectacular! Another award winning male progeny, Bruce of Sunrise Ridge, sheared a 13 lb. blanket in 2013!
Pepper is an excellent choice for maintaining color, lowering micron, improving brightness and coverage and producing "advanced" character. Pepper’s offspring also come in: grey and rose grey, gorgeous browns, and bay black.
Sunny Mesa's Pepperdyne is proudly co-owned with Windrush Hill Farm.
