A truly spectacular male, Ares combines a beautiful head, well-balanced frame, and outstanding bone structure for extraordinary presence. His superb fiber has excellent organization and a soft, even hand that is extremely bright and exceedingly dense. At three years of age, Ares’ uncommon fineness separated him from his peers at the 2011 AOBA Nationals for the coveted white Male Reserve Color Championship. His unprecedented fineness and exceptional crimp have been awarded a ‘Judges Best Crimp’ award.
The ONLY CCNF ARCHANGEL PROGENY in the WEST, Ares’ illustrious heritage includes Snowmass Legacy Gold, Mr. President, Augusto, Royal Fawn, Zephyrus, and Tell Vaccoyo’s Secret.
At 4 years, Ares won 2 more Reserve Color Championships, in halter and fleece, as well as being awarded the 'Spirit of the Industry' award recognizing the alpaca that holds or increases value by maintaining a fleece that stays commercially viable at the highest quality over time. Ares is a 6X banner winner with his Reserve Color Championship in fleece at the 2016 Great Western Alpaca Show! Judge Diana Timmerman said of Ares' 6th Reserve Color Champion fleece, " What a joy to judge! So nice to see positive fleece characteristics at almost 7 years of age!" Then, Ares took the Blue Ribbon at the 2016 AOA National Fleece Show in July, scoring 19 out of 20 for fineness and handle. "Impressive for fineness and softness of hand." WOW! This spectacular male, who produces champions and award winners in white to color, has won these 6 Reserve Color Championships in both halter AND fleece. He is also the recipient of the coveted 'Spirit of the Industry' award.
How cool is this? Sunny Mesa's Ares de Archangel and his daughter, Las Bonitas Ares' Honeysuckle White, took blue in their respective fleece classes at 2016 Fall Festival Fleece Show. Both scored 19/20 for fineness and handle. Both are fine, soft, and bright, with fantastic character. We love to see superior fleece characteristics passed on to offspring. We are thrilled! Judge Sharon Loner said of Ares, "Lovely brightness. Good weight. Very fine - soft." Ares' son, Revolucion, won Blue at 20115 Nationals, and has a daughter on the ground. Another son, Song Sung Blue of Linden Hills, is in the top 1% of 2016 EPD's for fineness, AND mean curvature! His dark fawn daughter, La Princessa, is a Grand Champion Female (2018 NWSS), Color Champion in halter (2015 TxOLAN, 2018 NWSS, 2018 AOA National Show) and the 2017 AOA National Fawn Walking Fleece Reserve Color Champion.
Sunny Mesa's Ares De Archangel offers consistent, lingering fineness with remarkable fleece architecture that he passes on to his offspring, and he can produce white, light, and color! His 2016 fleece stats are fantastic: AFD:18.8, SD: 3.8, CV: 20.2, with a comfort factor of 99%.
