SoCal's Curandero

SuriHerdsire (Male)Light Fawn
AOA# 31943482DOB: 3/20/201113 yrs
Curandero is so loaded with luster, he practically glows in the dark! He is a light fawn male with well-defined locking to the skin. The judge appreciate his "well-balanced" conformation and "solidity of lock"--also called "density". He has a striking presence with excellent bone and a level top line. His sire, Saber's Red Storm Rising, has taken several impressive championships, including a color championship at the AOBA National show, and Buckeye Champion and Judges' Choice. His dam, Anabellla's Chi, is one of our favorite foundation females. We are so proud of all his accomplishments, and now he is looking forward to a career as a herdsire! Curandero is a real winner--He took a blue ribbon at his first show (no championship class), then on to the International Alpaca Odyssey, where he had the HIGHEST score of ALL SURIS in the Cottage Fleece show AND he took Reserve Color Champion in the Cottage Halter competition. At his third show, the California Classic, he took 1st and Reserve Champion once again in full fleece halter--the judge loved his "balance" and elegant, angular conformation--not to mention his dense and lustrous fleece. At 2+ years, Curandero still cuts an elegant figure, with luster that glows in the barn! And he has settled his first female, and has her spitting! **Sellers would like to reserve 2 breedings to Curandero--drive buy or will cover agistment of female. We don't want to lose out on his genetics! Curandero has moved to Alpacas of Marin in coastal Marin County, in the North San Francisco Bay area of California. dHe has settled his first female and we await behavior testing on her. CURANDERO has been SOLD to Kelly and Anthony Fobia of Zen Gardens Alpacas! Congratulations, Kelly and Anthony--you have purchased a handsome, stylish, (sweet), and lustrous young man!

Dam: WTR WINTER SILK

Great genetics/EPDs! Outstanding Crias!

WTR WINTER SILK

SuriOpen (Female)White
AOA# 31183536DOB: 6/23/200816 yrs
Silk is aptly named--her fine, lustrous locks are soft and silky. Get a look at her 2011 histogram--at 3 years of age, her AFD is still 21.4 microns! She comes by this honestly--her sire is the famous Snowmass Silken Gold. Her dam is beige and with her fawn sire, Silk should cover color as well! Winter Silk is a tall girl with good bone and a very pleasing personality. She loves to run up and plant kisses on visitors. Silk also has excellent fleece statistics--see her 2015 AND 2017 EPD values, which are terrific across the board! Silk's first cria, Silken Radiance (by our herdsire, Quechua Radiance), has luminous, ropey locks with great density. And boy, does he have a sturdy frame! The judges absolutely loved him at the International Alpaca Odyssey, giving him the Color Championship in halter and the blue ribbon in "walking fleece", praising his fabulous luster. Now that Silk is up at Alpacas of Marin in the north San Francisco Bay area, we may re-breed her to Quechua Radiance OR we may take advantage of her color genetics to see what she comes up with, bred to MAPACA black champion, AABC Marauder! Buy her now and it's your choice of breeding!

Description

Winter Storm was the first cria born at our farm in the north San Francisco Bay area, after many years of agisting with other breeders. He grew...well...like a MOOSE--and the nickname stuck. Now, Winter Storm turned out to be normal in size, but his dam is a great mom and got him off to a vigorous start, so we still call him "the Moose". But what we have seen develop is a fantastically fine and lustrous fleece with well defined flat locks. Of all the alpacas on our farm--suri and huacaya, juvies and adults, Winter Storm boasts one of the finest fleeces--sampled at 18 months of age!! Now that he has had several EPD tests done, he has placed in the top 1% for AFD for 3 years in a row!! This is not really surprising since his dam is a daughter of the fantastic Snowmass Silken Gold, known for fineness and luster. At the West Coast Alpaca Show, Winter Storm took the blue ribbon in Walking Fleece, beating the male who would eventually take the Top Suri award for the show! And his sire, Curandero, is a son of AOBA Champion Saber's Red Storm Rising. Curandero has numerous championships to his name and gives Winter Storm his elegant, fluid conformation and style. His dam, Winter Silk, is our farm greeter for visitors and passes on to him her strong bone, balanced frame with level top line, fine fleece, as well as even more luster! Winter Storm is white, but both Curandero and Silk's sire are fawn, so he may well pass color. Winter Storm would do well in your breeding program to bring in extreme fineness and luster. Or, he would be a fantastic addition to a herd for a fiber artist, just to have access to his luscious fine and lustrous locks. Off Farm July 19, 2020. To Chileno Valley.
