Sire: Kryptonite's Chaos
31506526<--ari-->True Black<--color-->Here he is - the first True Black son of Crescent Moon's Kryptonite! Expected to begin settling mid-summer 2007, this boy, not only got genes from Kryptonite, but his mom's silky fleece. We expect these genes to be in great demand once he begins settling.<--description-->
Dam: Alta Luna's Ivy
31506526<--ari-->White<--color-->I finally got her! Ivy has been on my radar for many years and her owners finally offered her for sale, and now she's here!
This Royal Icing daughter is to die for. Ivy's fleece is beautiful with well defined character, incredible density, extreme brightness, and that awesome fineness. We certainly can't discount her dam, Head of Hair's contribution to Ivy and that's why we now have "Hairy" in our herd as well! Both of Ivy's parents are out of the Bolivian importation from Acero Marka.
Ivy's 2008 cria, Nia Fossae, is a richly colored dark fawn with incredible luster, character, and staple length to fleece. Her 2009 son, Phobos' Ayacucho is just what we wanted when we paired her with Phobos, he was certainly worthy of a repeat!
Look for news of the next Ivy/Phobos cria in the summer of 2011!

Service Sire: MaRS Solis Lacus
31506526<--ari-->True Black<--color-->Rare Black Appaloosa, this boy is eye catching! Solis wears a very unusual patterned fleece, and there's nothing lost in fiber character. Take a closer look!
Heavy boned, conformationally correct, incredible fleece, breeding your females to Solis would be a fabulous choice in many areas! Solis has fleece that displays uniformity and has plenty of density, and not to forget, tons of crimp. Judge Cathy Merkley stated that he had strong crimp definition from skin to tip, uniform across the entire blanket area. She also stated that he has an extremely fine fleece with a soft handle. She didn't have anything negative to say about Solis! He has a very strong head, very much like his grandsire, Accoyo Camilio. This boy definitely has that "presence" that is so sought after in a breeding male. Check out his 6 year histogram, nearly identical to his 4 year! I'd say he's holding his fineness quite well!
Solis sports colorful appaloosa spots in silver gray, rose gray, brown, and fawn, all on a jet black background. Just think of the colorful possibilities this male could produce!
Solis has progeny on the ground and they are awesome! So far it's been 50/50 male/female, fawn to true black. They all show improvement in fleece character, density, and fineness over the dams.

Description
Richly colored dark fawn female with much to offer. Nia Fossae merits consideration from even the most discerning breeders to add depth to any serious program.
This females fleece is no less than impressive with consistent, well-defined character, coupled with a silky, lustrous hand and noted density, and a good staple length. Nia is well structured with heavy bone and well balanced frame. Lots of color on her black sire's side, Nia could produce just about any color, including gray.
She proved herself to be a wonderful mother with plenty of milk for her cria. She gets pregnant easily, and has had no issues with delivery or milk production. Her 2011 cria, Phobos' His Royal Phineness, will be held in our herd as a possible replacement for his sire. He is incredible! We entered his cria fleece at Fiber Fusion NW and he was awarded a 3rd place out of 11. I worked for 5 hours cleaning his fleece but he was still knocked down for vegetation. His histogram came back with an AFD of 15.5!
We decided to breed Nia to MaRS Solis Lacus to capitalize on her black genetics. Solis has produced some awesome cria so this pairing should be an award winner, and I think we were right on target! A beautiful bay black female, Nili Fossae, was born on July 8th, up and walking in 15 minutes! This new girl has incredible uniform character to her very bright, fine fleece. She's solid in conformation with a well balanced frame, and her growth has been very consistent.
We would gladly keep Nia in our foundation herd but since we strive to consistently offer high quality breeding stock, she on the sales list. Since Nia was left open after the birth of her 2013 cria, 2 complimentary breedings to any Alpacas from MaRS herdsire is included, one or both may be transferred.
A very stunning young lady that is sure to bring excitement to a breeding program for years to come.
