DON DIEGO IS CONSIGNED TO THE AMAZING GREYS ALPACA AUCTION BEING HELD APRIL 29, 2017. REGISTER TO BID AT www.AmazingGreysAlpacas.com INCREDIBLE DENSITY AND LASTING FINENESS IN THIS BOY His fiber results at just shy of 9 years old are amazing! 2015 Histogram - AFD 20.5; SD 4.4; CV 21.2; %>30 3.3; CF 96.3; still this fineness at 9 years of age for grey is amazing! His biopsy follicle test (via Ian Watt) is even more impressive! Density - 62.8/mm with a Secondary:Primary fiber ratio of 13.1:1. Only 3 grey alpacas have ever tested higher in density and no grey alpacas have a higher S:P ratio (in fact, only 7 alpacas in ANY color have a higher S:P ratio - including white!). You'll have trouble finding a grey to put up a combination of those kinds of numbers anywhere! And Diego’s lineage is impressive, too - PPeruvian Pluro, Danko, grandsire Crescent Moon’s Rayo Del Sol (6x Grand Color Champ) and Sire Emerald Farms Rincon Cloud, 2005 AOBA Silver Nat’l Grand Champion, are enough reason to want him in your breeding program! And if that wasn't enough, check out his EPDs! Diego has many cria on the ground & every one of them is lovely. He is clearly passing on his amazing fineness to his cria. 2014 Cria Histograms -- Avenger – 15.23 AFD -- Baratheon – 15.3 AFD -- Ophelia – 15.6 AFD -- Antoinette – 17.98 AFD -- Lazarus – 18.4 AFD LASTING FINENESS RUNS IN HIS BLOOD: Previous Cria Histograms -- Jacob at age 2 - 16.7 AFD -- Joshua at age 3 - 16.4 AFD -- Levi at age 2 - 20.1 AFD Relatives' Histograms -- Diamond (Mom) at age 12 - 23.00 AFD -- Black Pearle (Maternal Sister) at age 5 - 17.52 AFD -- Angel (Maternal Sister) at age 7 - 21.89 AFD Diego’s string of blues began in ’07 with a rave review from Judge Wade Gease: “This young man had a presence as soon as he entered the ring…his feet glided across the grass, his toes pointed straight ahead…he’s consistent throughout…good density and wonderful fineness…beautiful conformation”. That was just the beginning followed by Wade praising him again at AlpacaMania for his “exceptional conformation, extreme fineness, beautiful crimp and consistent fiber character”. He continued to stock pile blues and more at every show and fiber exhibition he went to until he began breeding. Diego has a sweet personality, isn’t skittish and comes right to us or visitors. His fiber is exceptional and buttery fine, his micron stats have always been great for a light animal let alone his coloring! They rank right alongside with some of the best in the nation! His fineness, luster, excellent dense coverage, beautiful typey head and strong bone structure will add great qualities to any herd. Diego is now proudly co-owned with Patagonia Estates.

Brandy is a beautiful girl with a typey head, and a fleece at 3 years old with a 22.0 AFD and a curvature of 49. Her 2012 cria, Apollo, was a duplicate stamp of herself with wonderful crimp and character just like mom and the herdsire, Snowmass Rock Star XX, with to-die-for head coverage, fine, fine, fleece, and tremendous conformation. On November 25, 2013 Brandy had a true black male cria, Wicked Tinker, with incredibly dense crimpy fleece – one of our best 2013 cria. Tinker took the blue and reserve color champion at the 2014 Gold Country Gathering for male black juvenile. He’s sired by Snowmass Andean Midnight, an exceptional true black herdsire whose cria are quite lookers with their sire’s magnificent fineness. Snowmass Andean Midnight should retain fineness for years to come and those who need to add proven genetics of fineness, brightness and handle will appreciate the Royal Blacks from Snowmass! He is one of their best! Snowmass Andean Midnight is a beautiful, compact, true black “silky soft” male with an outstanding pedigree for fineness. His fiber is incredibly soft and shiny with a silky look and feel. It has a uniform low amplitude high frequency style of crimp. You have to see it to believe it. His grandsire is non other than Andean Bronze, the sire of Royal Bronze – from Snowmass’ vicuna type alpacas who retain fineness under 20 microns after reaching maturity. On November 8, 2014 Brandy had a gorgeous modern dark silver grey boy, Baratheon, out of our champion modern silver grey herdsire, Morning Star's Don Diego, a Rincon Cloud son. We were so pleased with this cria we repeated the breeding, and on November 6, 2015 Brandy had a exceptional true black male cria, Baelish. Brandy is an easy keeper, and a great mom with lots of milk. Brandy produced an absolutely stunning harlequin/appaloosa female in January 2018, sired by our blue ribbon appaloosa herdsire, Escher!

Description

Baratheon is a magnificent male out of our champion modern grey herdsire, Diego, and one of our best producers, Brandy. This boy is half brother (on his dam's side) to our true black champion, Wicked Tinker, and looks to be every bit as nice as him, if not better! He is a rich, charcoal grey color all over, with fineness and bundling in abundance. He is the picture perfect mini-me of his sire, Diego. Baratheon's first histogram came in at a remarkable 15.3 AFD - Diego is really throwing amazing cria!
